    Summer Memo:  Good evening Silver Hawk families; this is Principal Carter Hillman with a Summer Memo as we prepare for the start of the 2025-26 school year:

    • All information provided in this Memo is posted on the VMCCA website under the “Principal’s Message.”  For any information concerning hyperlinks or forms, please visit the VMCCA website.
    • VMCCA's new student orientation, or “Flight School,” will occur on Tuesday, July 29th, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Students are expected to present for the entire day. Parents are encouraged to attend one of the two available sessions: 8:00 to 9:00 AM or 2:00 to 3:00 PM.  To see more information and register,  go to the VMCCA website in the green announcement banner.
    • The first day of school for all VMCCA students is Tuesday, August 5th, 7:25 AM to 2:18 PM.  For parents dropping off students, the carpool is located on the right side of the building when facing the front of the school.  Please do not drop your student(s) off before 6:55 AM.
    • All students who are interested in purchasing a parking pass may purchase online, or in person. In addition to payment, students must have a notarized permission form completed to receive their parking pass. Cost is $200. 
    • All Juniors and Seniors who are interested in purchasing an off campus lunch pass may purchase online, or in person. In addition to payment, students must have a notarized permission form completed to receive their pass.
    • Students can pick up both parking and off campus lunch passes on Monday, August 4 between 1 and 3 PM
    • Attention Juniors and Seniors:  WTCC classes do not start until Monday August 18th.  However, there are specific days and times you MUST be on campus for WTCC orientation.  Please read the permission to leave campus during Wake Tech classes carefully.
    • In response to the NC legislator and WCPSS policy, VMCCA has a new school-wide phone and electronic policy that impacts students’ use of cell phones, headphones, earbuds, etc.  Please be certain to review and be familiar with this policy, VMCCA Electronic Device Policy. 
    • Transition to Infinite Campus: Our district has transitioned from PowerSchool to the new operating system, Infinite Campus. Families received an email from Infinite Campus, beginning the first week in July at the address we have on file, with instructions for creating a Campus Parent account. Didn’t receive the email? Contact your school’s data manager to check or update your contact information. View the Parent and Student Portal walkthrough video. All high school students have access to Campus Student. Secondary students (grades 6-12) will access Campus Student through their WakeID portal. New students will need to request their WakeID from school staff. 
    • Student Schedules: Student schedules will be available on Infinite Campus as of Friday, July 25th.  Students will report directly to their Homeroom upon the first bell (7:18) on August 5th where an updated, official hard copy of their schedule will be provided.   It is possible that changes may need to be made before the first day of school.  Please know that we have made every effort to schedule students in their requested courses.   • Special Senior Memo | May 19

    Special Memo:  Good evening Silver Hawk families; this is Principal Carter Hillman with a special Senior Announcement:

    • The Graduation Rehearsal is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 20th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Meymandi Hall. Seniors are required to attend this rehearsal to participate in the graduation ceremony and should be on property by 10:45 AM. During the rehearsal, seniors will receive ten guest tickets.
    • The VMCCA Graduation Ceremony is this Wednesday, May 21st, at 8:00 AM at Meymandi Hall. Seniors are required to arrive by 7:00 AM in preparation for the event. Guests will be allowed to enter the building at 7:15 AM. All guests are required to have a ticket for entry.
    • The VMCCA Graduation Ceremony will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend graduation.  You can access the link for the live stream via the VMCCA Main Webpage.  Look at the green banner at the top of the page.  Or you can access here: https://youtube.com/live/UU6v_PTVzMc?feature=share

    • Spring Final Exams have begun at VMCCA.  The schedule is posted on the VMCCA webpage.  Please note that there will be no exams on Wednesday, May 21st, due to the VMCCA Graduation ceremony.  Students should not come to school that day.
    • Seniors and Senior Parents:  A reminder of graduation dates in May to mark on your calendars:   Graduation Rehearsal is this Tuesday, May 20th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Meymandi Hall.  Seniors are required to attend this rehearsal to participate in the graduation ceremony.  The VMCCA Graduation Ceremony is this Wednesday, May 21st at 8:00 AM at Meymandi Hall.  Seniors are required to arrive by 7:00 AM. 
    • Parents: The PTSA wants to specially thank all the families who donated so generously to the Exam Survival Snacks. With your help, we are able to distribute over 3000 individual snacks across eight final exam blocks. This was by far the best snack donation turnout we've ever seen. Thank you for your support of our students!
    • Parents and Students: VMCCA will be closed for all business Monday, May 26th, through Wednesday, May 28th.

    • Senior Parents and Seniors: This Tuesday, May 13th, is the Senior Awards and Recognition Ceremony, starting at 6:00 PM in the VMCCA gymnasium.  Seniors are asked to report by 5:15 PM to sign the Graduate Wall and to prepare for the event.  Seniors are expected to wear their graduation gowns for this event.  During the ceremony, all seniors will be recognized for their received honors and post-graduation plans.  Please note that there is limited seating for guests.
    • Parents:  PTSA needs your help. As PTSA supports the school by providing all students with snacks for Exam Survival Week (May 16th through May 22nd), it needs snack donations.  These donations can be dropped off in the front office at any time.

    • Parents:  PTSA needs your help. As PTSA supports the school by providing all students with snacks for Exam Survival Week (May 16th through May 22nd), it needs snack donations.  These donations can be dropped off in the front office at any time.
    • Parents: Students received parent permission forms for Early Dismissal during Spring Exams.  Students will not be allowed to leave campus early during exam days without a signed parent permission form.  Without a form, a parent will need to come into the school and sign out their student in the front office. Forms are due by this Friday, May 9th.
    • VMCCA’s Block Party is scheduled for this Tuesday, May 6th during the school day.
    • Ninth Grade Parents: On Wednesday, May 7th, 9th grade students currently enrolled in Healthful Living will participate in the Human Trafficking Safety and Awareness lesson during class. Students received a parent information form in their Healthful Living class this past Wednesday. If you do not wish for your student to participate in this lesson, please reach out to our Student Services team by Tuesday, May 6th.

    • Congratulations go out to VMCCA staff and students for receiving a national Top Magnet School in the Nation recognition in Nashville, TN last week.
    • Attention Parents and Students: Now that warmer weather is here, we are seeing lapses in the dress code.  Students should not be wearing clothing that exposes undergarments, which includes off-the-shoulder or spaghetti-strap shirts and/or bottoms that are too short.  Students who violate the dress code will be required to remain in the front office until they are appropriately covered for the remainder of the day.  Please have this conversation with your student.
    • Junior and Seniors:  This year's prom, Enchanted Evening, is scheduled for the Talley Center Ballroom on NC State Campus from 7:00 to 11:00 PM this Saturday, April 26th.
    • Parents: Wake County Public Schools is administering a District Wide Family Survey through Friday, May 16. This survey provides families the opportunity to provide valuable information and a high-quality data source for planning and School Improvement.  The survey has been translated into various languages; Spanish, Arabic, French, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese in an effort to provide accessibility to families in Wake County Public Schools.     • Attention Freshmen Parents: On Tuesday, April 8th, 9th-grade students who are currently enrolled in Healthful Living classes will participate in the Signs of Suicide lesson during class. This past Tuesday, April 1st, students received a parent information letter and an opt-out form in their Healthful Living class. If you do not wish for your student to participate in this lesson, please sign and return the opt-out form to the main office no later than tomorrow, Monday, April 7th.       We are now in the fourth quarter marking period.  Please keep in mind that this is a shortened quarter.  We have six weeks remaining before the end of the marking period and the beginning of final exams.  
        Students received their registration verification sheets for the 25-26 school year in Fly Friday.       Please review, sign and return them to the front office no later than April 11th.
    • Parents and Students: Skills USA State competition is next Wednesday, April 9th through Friday, April 11th in Greensboro.  
    • A reminder that students will have school on Thursday, April 17th as this is a makeup day for earlier inclement weather.
