Weekly Memo:  Good evening Silver Hawk families, this is Principal Carter Hillman with your Weekly Memo:

  • All information provided in this Memo is posted on the VMCCA website under the “Principal’s Message.”
  • New student orientation is tomorrow, August 1st, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM for students.  Please arrive no later than 7:50 AM.  Parents there are two sessions provided for you; one from 8:00 to 9:00 AM and the other from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.  We ask that you attend only one of these sessions.
  • Juniors and Seniors: Students may come to the main office on Thursday, August 4th, between 1:00 and 3:00 PM to obtain a lunch and/or parking pass.  If the application(s) has not been notarized, a parent MUST be present to complete and sign the application.  If paid online, please bring a copy of the paid receipt.
  • Students and Parents: First day of the 2022-2023 school year is Monday, August 8th.  The school day is from 7:25 AM to 2:18 PM.  Students will be receiving a hard copy of their schedule in their Homeroom.  This year’s theme is Building to Excellence.  We are excited to have our students returning.
  • A few first-day reminders:  Carpool is located on the right side of the school, when facing the school.  All students who are being dropped off are required to go through carpool.  Students can enter the building at 7:00 AM.  WCPSS and Wake Tech have dress codes that will be enforced in order to support safe and orderly classrooms.
  • Attention parents: Please mark your calendar for our Fall Open House, Meet the Teacher event on Thursday, August 11th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.  There will be a parent information session for those whose students will be starting Wake Tech courses this year at 6:00 PM.  This event is an in-person event.  Students are welcome to attend. 
  • Wake County will not be providing meals free of charge this school year.  Any families interested in applying for Free or Reduced meals, applications are available in the front office or you can apply online at: myschoolbucks.com.
  • Attention Senior parents: You will be receiving an email for your senior(s) discussing the required booster dose of the Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4).  It is a North Carolina State requirement that all Seniors have received the MCV immunization to remain in school, in person or virtual.  Please take this information seriously, as, based on NC State law, should we not receive this information by Friday, September 9th, your student will be removed from his/her classes. If your child is up to date with this booster, you can email the updated record to yssanders@wcpss.net. 
  • Keep your students safe, keep in contact with your teachers, and have a good evening.
