Students answer "what has Millbrook done for you?"

  • Reese Pedersen
It is National Magnet Month and being at Millbrook Magnet Highschool has been such an amazing experience. Some of my favorite parts about being a magnet student at Millbrook is the community I gained from being around so many people with similar goals and values. Being a magnet student helps me to focus on my goals and achieve my accomplishments. What drew me to the program was the opportunities that it provided me with. The magnet program has given me new friends but not only that, it has helped me in learning because of the extra help easily at my access. The magnet program has also given me more connections whether it is in different clubs or with different teachers.

I love the magnet program because it broadens the scope of the people who I get to interact with, I have multiple friends who are magnet students that I am extremely happy that I got to know.

I love the IB program because it has made me a more well-rounded and curious student. I have learned so much about other countries and subjects that I would have taken if I weren’t at an IB school. My school has challenged and improved my understanding of the world in a way that I don’t believe would be possible at another school.

I love my magnet school and theme because it is a unique approach to learning that helps me to become a more worldly learner. This program has helped me to become more well rounded in my learning techniques and all together has made me a better student.

What initially drew me to Millbrook as a magnet school was the opportunity to participate in the rigorous IB program, which I knew would provide me with a challenging and well-rounded academic experience. However, beyond the academics, I was equally excited about the school's strong athletic programs. Millbrook has provided me with the chance to build a sense of community within sports, as well as in various clubs and organizations. Additionally, the A/B day schedule that Millbrook offers was a major factor in my decision. Another key factor was Millbrook’s A/B day schedule, which gives me a chance to learn continuously throughout the year and provides many benefits that have helped me grow as a student.

I was drawn to Millbrook largely due to the IB program. IB gave me the opportunity to challenge myself more than my base school. Millbrook also is a well rounded school which has something for all with many clubs and different sports offered.

I love Millbrook High School because of the community. In all of my classes I've met people from all walks of life. I'm friends with the starting center of our football team who's from Ohio, a weightlifter from Pittsburgh, a professional archer, and so much more. Everyone here is incredibly kind and welcoming to all people. It feels like a family in a way. The teachers are also incredibly smart and caring. I haven't met a teacher who didn't try to get to know their students instead of just teaching them. I was drawn to Millbrook originally because my sister was a junior here. I figured I would just go here no matter what, but when I toured Millbrook, I fell in love. I realized I didn't want to go here just because of my sister, I wanted to go here because for the IB program, the sports, theatre, and every amazing student experience you could have here. This school has done so much for me. It has not only helped me achieve things I never thought I could achieve but also helped me become a better person. I have found amazing friends and mentors that have helped me become better at so many aspects of my life. Millbrook has given me so many amazing memories and lifelong relationships that I will never take for granted.

I love Millbrook as a magnet school because it gives people the opportunity to be in an IB school and participate in the DP program. I knew I wanted to do DP since I was a freshman and that is why I opted out of going to my base school and applied for the magnet program. Being at Millbrook has given me so many academic, social, and leadership opportunities that I know I would not have gotten if I went anywhere else. I now have the opportunity, as an ambassador, to talk to families about the benefits of Millbrook as a magnet school. I know that I wouldn't be on such a successful path without being a magnet student.
