Quarter One Arts and Design Highlights

Quarter 1 Highlights: Student Creations and Designs  

Honoring Día De Los Muertos:

Spanish and 2D Art students collaborated to design personal and meaningful elements of an ofrenda in celebration of Día de los Muertos.

ELA Through Art: 

8th Grade ELA students created a triptych artwork that explored and visually represented the themes of the novel Inside Out and Back Again.

Science in 3D: 

8th Grade Science students designed intricate 3D models of atoms to deepen their understanding of atomic structure.  


History Meets Design:

8th Grade Social Studies students crafted artifacts inspired by indigenous cultures of North Carolina, connecting the past to the present. 

Math in Action: 

8th Grade Math students applied design thinking to build models that explored and explained the concept of slope.  

Exploring Ratios Through Art:

6th Grade Math students experimented with mixing paint to create a monochromatic blue scale, connecting ratios to real-world applications.

Keeping Cool with Science: 

6th Grade Science students designed and tested prototype water bottles to see which would keep ice-cold the longest.

6th Grade ELA students designed house flags inspired by Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief for a thematic game of Capture the Flag.
