Three free Wake County family events this week

Dear Parents, Families, and Staff,

I am writing to extend a warm invitation to three upcoming events hosted by the Wake County Public School System that are designed to support, inform, and strengthen our school communities.

These events will provide invaluable resources to families, opportunities for meaningful engagement, and guidance from subject-matter experts and community partners. Each of the events are free of charge and open to all WCPSS families and community members.

Parent Safety Night

Wednesday, April 23 | 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Garner Magnet High School | 2101 Spring Drive, Garner

Safety is a shared responsibility, and we are committed to equipping our families with the tools and knowledge they need to help keep our students and communities secure.

Parent Safety Night will begin with a Community Safety Resource Fair, featuring organizations such as NC S.A.F.E., the Department of Justice, and the Garner Police Department. Topics include:

  • Safe gun storage

  • Internet safety

  • Youth mental health and wellness

Each attendee will receive a free gun lock upon entry. Two featured presentations will be held at 6:30 p.m. and 7:10 p.m., led by Deputy Secretary William Lassiter from the NC Department of Public Safety and Kendrick Scott, WCPSS Senior Director of Security.

 

 

Family Engagement Kick-Off Event at Marbles Kids Museum

Friday, April 25 | 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Marbles Kids Museum | 201 E Hargett Street, Raleigh

New this year, this event will serve as a fun-filled kick-off to our annual Family and Community Engagement Summit. This family-centered event will feature interactive learning activities, resource booths, and community exhibits designed to inspire creativity and connection. Families will have the opportunity to explore the museum and engage with local organizations offering tools and services to support learning at home and in the community. Please note that registration is required for this event and that there are capacity limits. Be sure to register in advance! 

 

 

WCPSS Family and Community Engagement Summit

Saturday, April 26 | 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

We invite all parents, guardians, staff, and community members to join us for our annual Family and Community Engagement Summit. This event will include:

  • A keynote address by Mansfield “Ole Pete” Key, renowned personal development mentor and international motivational speaker. He is a life coach, mentor, and counselor. 

  • Breakout sessions led by local leaders and educators on topics ranging from money management for students to tips for becoming more involved at your student’s school. 

  • An opportunity to connect with our partners at Book Harvest, Boys and Girls Club of Wake County, Communities in Schools, Marbles Kids Museum, NC Cooperative Extension, North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals, Poe Health Center, Raleigh Parks and Recreation, SECU Financial Education, Wake County Public Libraries, Wake PTA, WAKE UP and Read, and YMCA of the Triangle. 

We are proud to offer these events to our community, and we hope you will take part in them. Your involvement is vital to the strength and success of our school system. Thank you for your continued support of the Wake County Public School System. We hope to see you there!

Tres eventos gratuitos para las familias del Condado Wake esta semana

 

Estimados Padres y Familias:

Les escribo para extender una cálida invitación a tres próximos eventos organizados por el Sistema de Escuelas Públicas del Condado Wake que están diseñados para apoyar, informar y fortalecer nuestras comunidades escolares.

Estos eventos brindarán recursos invaluables a las familias, oportunidades para una participación significativa y orientación de expertos en la materia y socios comunitarios. Cada uno de los eventos son gratuitos y disponibles para todas las familias y miembros de la comunidad de WCPSS.

Noche de Seguridad para Padres

Miércoles 23 de abril | 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Escuela Secundaria Garner Magnet | 2101 Spring Drive, Garner

La seguridad es una responsabilidad compartida y estamos comprometidos a equipar a nuestras familias con las herramientas y el conocimiento que necesitan para ayudar a mantener seguros a nuestros estudiantes y comunidades.

La Noche de Seguridad para Padres comenzará con una Feria de Recursos de Seguridad Comunitaria, en la que participarán organizaciones como NC S.A.F.E., el Departamento de Justicia y el Departamento de Policía de Garner. Los temas incluyen:

  • Almacenamiento seguro de armas

  • Seguridad en internet

  • Salud mental y bienestar de los jóvenes.

Al ingresar, cada asistente recibirá un candado para armas gratuito. Se realizarán dos presentaciones destacadas a las 6:30 PM y las 7:10 PM, dirigidas por el Subsecretario William Lassiter del Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Carolina del Norte y Kendrick Scott, Director Sénior de Seguridad de WCPSS.

 

 

Evento de Lanzamiento de la Cumbre de Participación Familiar en el Museo Marbles para Niños

Como novedad este año, este evento servirá como un inicio lleno de diversión para nuestra Cumbre anual de Participación Familiar y Comunitaria. Este evento centrado en la familia contará con actividades de aprendizaje interactivas, puestos de recursos y exhibiciones comunitarias diseñadas para inspirar creatividad y conexión. Las familias tendrán la oportunidad de explorar el museo e interactuar con organizaciones locales que ofrecen herramientas y servicios para apoyar el aprendizaje en el hogar y en la comunidad. Tenga en cuenta que se requiere inscripción para este evento y que hay límites de capacidad. ¡Asegúrese de registrarse con anticipación!

 

 

Cumbre de Participación Familiar y Comunitaria de WCPSS

Invitamos a todos los padres, tutores legales, personal escolar y miembros de la comunidad para que nos acompañen  en nuestra Cumbre anual de Participación Familiar y Comunitaria. Este evento incluirá:

  • Un discurso de apertura de Mansfield “Ole Pete” Key, reconocido mentor en desarrollo personal y orador motivacional de alcance internacional. Es un coach de vida, mentor y consejero. 

  • Sesiones de trabajo dirigidas por líderes y educadores locales sobre temas que van desde la administración del dinero para los estudiantes hasta consejos para involucrarse más en la escuela de su estudiante. 

  • Una oportunidad para conectarse con nuestros socios en Book Harvest, Boys and Girls Club of Wake County, Communities in Schools, Marbles Kids Museum, NC Cooperative Extension, Sociedad de Profesionales Hispanos de Carolina del Norte, Poe Health Center, Raleigh Parks and Recreation, SECU Financial Education, Wake County Public Libraries, Wake PTA, WAKE UP and Read y YMCA of the Triangle.
