The Sunday Kickoff Message for 04/03/22

Baucom Parents & Guardians,

This is Dr. Saunders with this week’s Sunday Kickoff Message.

Thank You!

First, I want to say THANK YOU for the tremendous send-off you gave me Friday night at the Family Fun Night. Leading here at Baucom has been a true joy in my life. The memories we’ve made together will forever bring a smile to my face. Thank you for the trust you placed in me over these last four years. Again, I’m not leaving soon so we’ll enjoy the remaining weeks we have together.

Spring Break Next Week / No Sunday Message Next Sunday

Looking ahead, next week, there is NO SCHOOL April 11th to the 15th for Spring Break. The Sunday Kickoff Message will take a night off next Sunday night, on the 10th, and return on the 17th

Marathon Running Logs Were Due Friday

Next, the deadline for turning in marathon running logs was Friday, April 1st.  If you missed this somehow, we absolutely must have your log before noon tomorrow. Parents are invited this Friday, April 8th, to either run with their Aviator OR simply watch the final 1.2 mile run at school. This will be held at 2pm so please plan to check in a little ahead of this so you don't miss the fun.  If you would like to volunteer to help with popsicles or medals that day, please sign up HERE

EOGs NOT Optional in 3rd-5th this School Year

Next tonight, I do need all 3rd grade to 5th grade families to understand that while EOGs were optional last year, due to COVID-19 considerations, they are once again part of school accountability in North Carolina. Baucom Elementary will be penalized by the state if we do not test all eligible students. If you and your family are thinking about a trip or vacation at the end of May or beginning of June, please look at the EOG dates below, in the Previews & Reviews section of this message. We find that students test best on their assigned test day, but if all else fails, a makeup exam can be given the week of June 6th. Thank you for making this adjustment back to the way things were, alongside us.

PTA’s April Meeting

Next, PTA has their April PTA meeting this Tuesday evening at 6pm.  This meeting is completely remote and the link to join us is HERE

Lost & (Not) Found

Next tonight, if you are missing one of your Aviator’s jackets, hoodies, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc., have them check Lost & Found prior to the deadline of this Thursday, April 7th. On Friday, we will batch it all up and deliver it to the nearest Goodwill Store.

We’re #ClearedForTakeoff again this week, Aviator Nation! See you in the morning, by 9:10am.

Important Links

-It's YEARBOOK purchasing season! Use the link to the left to order yours before they’re gone!

-Did you know that Kindergarten registration for 2022-2023 is well under way? Baucom families – if you yourself have a Kindergarten-age eligible little one to register, OR if you know a neighbor or family member needing to enroll for next school year, PLEASE let them know they can connect with our Data Manager, Beverly Robinson, here at Baucom anytime. It helps us tremendously to gain Kindergarten registration sooner rather than later. For instance, the district considers the registration numbers when allotting us teacher positions for the following year. Here’s the link to the WCPSS Kindergarten Registration website for your convenience tonight.
