Ms. Liz Hogg (2nd over)
I am so grateful that I have been a teacher at Baucom Elementary for twenty-seven years. Baucom is an inspirational school and I can’t wait to start a new year with all your wonderful kiddos! My educational background is that I received a BA in English from SUNY Albany and I received my teaching credentials from Central University in Durham. I subbed all over Wake County for almost two years while going back to school at Central University. I learned a lot from that subbing experience before getting hired at Baucom. I also taught in NYC for two years before moving to NC. My daughter went to Baucom and she is twenty-five years old now. She has a real job and can pay her own bills!!! Something that you will learn about me is that I love dogs, especially my sassy Shichon, Cookie Boy!

Ms. Lynn Sweeney (3rd over)
My name is Lynn Sweeney. I was born and raised in the beautiful mountains of Western Pennsylvania. I attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where I received my BS in Secondary Education with a focus in Mathematics.
Mr. Sweeney and I moved to Cary, NC in the late 90s. Today, we enjoy being empty-nesters as our three children have grown to be successful adults. I spent some time in the corporate world in the data storage business, but I decided to return to education in 2004. I was hired as a teacher assistant here at Baucom in 2006. I fell in love with this wonderful school and community. After 4 years as a teacher assistant, I decided to add Elementary Education to my teaching license. Fortunately, I was able to remain at Baucom as a teacher. This year will mark my 14th year as a 4th grade teacher. (I love it that much!)
When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, camping, walking/hiking, playing Pokemon Go or relaxing around a campfire with friends/family. I keep busy making scented candles, canning vegetables, salsa and soup and restoring my 1957 Chevy Two-Ten Sedan that I recently inherited. (Fun Fact: It sat in a barn for over 40 years!) We worked hard to get it back on the road. Maybe someday you’ll see us cruising around in it!

Ms. Susan Halsey (4th over)
I am excited to begin my 6th year as a fourth-grade teacher at Baucom Elementary! Baucom is where two of my children attended, and it feels like a home-away-from-home to me because of the wonderful community and staff. I grew up in Cortland, NY, and received a BA in Psychology from University at Buffalo and my teaching credential from University of Phoenix with a focus in Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development. I began my teaching career in a combined Kindergarten/First grade class at a small private school in San Ramon, CA. After that my family relocated to Denver, CO where I taught fourth grade for two years in the Brighton 27J School District. I was blessed to spend twelve years at home with my children. During that time, I became a certified yoga teacher and have spent the past 10 years teaching kids' yoga on the weekends and in the summers. We relocated to Apex, NC in 2016, and I returned to the classroom in the spring of 2018. I have a daughter who’s a college Freshman at Salem College in Winston Salem, another daughter who’s a senior at Apex High School, and a son who’s in 7th grade at Apex Middle School. We have a border collie named Rocky and a cat named Eleanor Buttercup. My heart is in Apex, and I am grateful to serve our community as a teacher at Baucom Elementary School.
