Baucom Parents & Guardians,

This is Dr. Saunders with this week’s Sunday Kickoff Message. Obviously we lost an hour today, with Daylight Savings, but we’ll still be starting school in the morning at 9:10am. Please prepare accordingly tonight for another great start to the school week in the morning. Also, please remember that during arrival and dismissal, there should be NO left turns onto Hunter Street. We nearly had a collision there last week.

Next, please be aware there is NO SCHOOL this Friday, March 18^th, due to a Teacher Workday. Looking ahead this month, there is also NO SCHOOL for a Teacher Workday on Monday, March 28^th.

Next tonight, your PTA invites you to a Night of Family Fun on Friday, April 1^st, from 6-8pm on the back Baucom fields. There will be music, bounce slides, face painting, food trucks, and a free Kona Ice for each Baucom student.  All entertainment is free to your family, but we encourage you to support our local food trucks by purchasing dinner. Food trucks will be:  Will & Pops, Fired Up Pizza and BBQ, and Doherty's Paddy Wagon.  You may also bring your own food, if you prefer, as this event will be an outdoor one, similar to Welcome Back Night that we had in early September. Lastly, PTA wants to do something on my behalf that night, as a farewell. Even though we do not know exactly when I will be leaving for Millbrook High, this event was one that, being already planned, was simply a good fit. I’d love to see as many of you as possible on April 1^st!

Lastly tonight, and as we look ahead, Spring Pictures are scheduled at school for Thursday, March 24^th. Spring Pics are always a bit confusing for folks so here’s the skinny. If you want a class picture of your Aviator’s homeroom, that $10 is due on Picture Day. No other money is due on Picture Day. You will be able to preview the package of pictures in April; we’ll send them home. You then pay for all that you want of the package and/or return that which you don’t want to keep. It’s an interesting business approach, but there it is, in all its glory. Call the office if you have questions.

-Soon, and maybe as early as next week, School Counselor Spencer will share a document about middle school Open Houses with you. When it’s ready, I’ll post it in the Sunday message for you.

 

-Apex Friendship Middle School is putting on a theater performance of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown with about 50 of their students onstage. The shows will run March 24-26 at 7pm and they’re offering any rising 6^th grader a free ticket, when accompanied by an adult. Email the teacher at nwinterjagger@wcpss.net with the show night and # of tickets you desire.

 

-Single Subject Acceleration, or SSA, within WCPSS is an opportunity for a student to test into the next grade-level for either math or English language arts (ELA). Only a very small handful of students qualify each year and those who typically do have been earning 4’s on their report card for the subject area being considered. Nevertheless, any student can test, if you register them the week of 3/21-25. If interested, check out the SSA webpage linked HERE for all the 2022 details.

-Did you know that Kindergarten registration for 2022-2023 is well under way? Baucom families – if you yourself have a Kindergarten-age eligible little one to register, OR if you know a neighbor or family member needing to enroll for next school year, PLEASE let them know they can connect with our Data Manager, Beverly Robinson, here at Baucom anytime. It helps us tremendously to gain Kindergarten registration sooner rather than later. For instance, the district considers the registration numbers when allotting us teacher positions for the following year. Este es el Doctor Saunders con el mensaje de lanzamiento: Perdimos una hora hoy debido al horario de verano. Por favor, ajuste sus relojes. Estaremos listos para recibir a los estudiantes a las 9:10 am mañana.

Noticias para carpool, por favor no tomen una izquierda para salir de la escuela durante las horas de carpool. Las reglas están en la señal al frente de la escuela. Puede causar accidentes automóviles.

A continuación, NO hay ESCUELA este viernes, 18 ^de marzo, debido a un Día de Trabajo del Maestro.

Con más noticias, la PTA tendrá una noche familiar el viernes ¹ de abril, de 6 a 8 pm cerca del campo detrás de Baucom.  Habrá música, toboganes de rebote, pintura facial, camiones de comida y un Kona Ice gratuito para cada estudiante de Baucom. Todo el entretenimiento es gratuito para su familia, pero lo alentamos a que apoye a nuestros camiones de comida locales comprando la cena. Los camiones de comida serán: Will & Pops, Fired Up Pizza y BBQ, y Doherty's Paddy Wagon.  También puede traer su propia comida. La PTA también organizará una despedida esa noche, a pesar de que no tenemos una fecha para mi mudanza a Millbrook High School. ¡Me encantaría ver a tantos de ustedes como sea posible el 1 de abril!

Las fotos de primavera son el jueves 24 ^de marzo. Para comprar una foto de clase de la habitación de su aviador, el costo es de $ 10. Podrá obtener una vista previa del paquete de imágenes en abril. Luego paga por todo lo que desea del paquete y / o devuelve lo que no desea conservar.

-La aceleración de una sola asignatura, o SSA, dentro de WCPSS es una oportunidad para que un estudiante pruebe en el siguiente nivel de grado para matemáticas o artes del lenguaje inglés (ELA).
