MECME Families,
School starts on Monday, 8/23! We are READY and we are EXCITED! This message contains several important details to help make our first day a success. Please take time to read it carefully.
I first want to share a huge congratulations to our assistant principal, Leslie Blake, who has been recognized as one of five finalists for WCPSS Assistant Principal of the Year! This is a tremendous honor, and we are so proud of her.
A reminder that our kindergarten students should attend based on the staggered entry dates that you have been assigned. If you have not received that information, please contact the school.
If you’ve missed previous updates, you can find them on the school website here (link).
Face Coverings
All WCPSS students, staff, and visitors will be required to wear a face covering while on campus. We recommend students bring an extra mask each day in case one gets wet or dirty. We are so proud of our students helping to keep the school community safe!
Health Screening
Students and families should self-screen and keep students home if they are sick. You can find a list of symptoms as well as additional COVID-19 information here: https://www.wcpss.net/covid19.
Arrival
Students are allowed on campus no earlier than 7:15. Please do not drop off students before this time.
Students walking from Millbrook Rd. will enter the building near the media center entrance (the widest sidewalk entrance). Carpool, bus riders, and Windsor Falls walkers in grades K – 3 will enter the main entrance off Memory Rd. Students in grades 4 and 5 who want breakfast will also use this entrance. Students in grade 4 and 5 who are not eating breakfast will enter through the cafeteria. We will have plenty of adults out to help students during arrival.
If you are using carpool, please follow our signage and DO NOT park and walk your student to the building. This creates a safety concern.
***We will not be allowing families in the building during arrival due to health and safety protocols. If you need to attend to business with the office, we ask that you come by after 8:30 if possible so that we have more staff available to help you.
Dismissal
We will begin dismissal at 2:15. Please make sure you have communicated how your child is going home with his or her teacher.
If you are picking up a student walking toward Millbrook Rd., please wait by the crosswalk on the school side of Millbrook Rd. Windsor Falls walkers will be escorted across the field by MECME staff to the fence adjacent to Sunbow Falls. All K – 1 students will need a parent or older sibling waiting at the pick-up areas. If you are picking up a student in carpool, please make sure you and your student know your carpool number. For returning families, we are using the same numbers as last year. For new families, you will be issued a carpool tag and number soon.
Student Chromebooks
If your student has been issued a WCPSS Chromebook, please have them bring it charged and with the charger. Students will be bringing these to and from school each day this year.
We have a limited supply of Chromebooks on campus. We will first issue devices to students who have not received a device. After that, we will begin issuing devices to students who are eligible for an exchange or upgrade. Thank you for your patience, as it will take several days to distribute devices to students.
School Menus
To view breakfast and lunch menus, please visit https://schools.mealviewer.com/school/MillbrookElementary. As a reminder, school meals are available at no charge to students this year. Students will have the option to purchase additional a la carte items. If you wish to add funds to a pre-paid account, please visit https://www.wcpss.net/Page/1848 for additional information.
Curbside Postponed/Free and Reduced Meals
At this time, curbside meal service at MECME is postponed. Visit https://www.wcpss.net/food for curbside locations. While school meals are no cost for students this year, families should still apply for free or reduced meals, which may also qualify them for additional state or federal benefits. More information is located at http://www.wcpss.net/meals.
Familias MECME,
¡La escuela comienza el lunes, 8/23! ¡Estamos LISTOS y estamos EMOCIONADOS!
