Want to Join the IB Diploma Programme?
Sophomores! Are you thinking about the IB Diploma Programme as your pathway for the next two years? Consider these reasons for joining one of our final information sessions!
DP Siblings
While there is plenty of data that supports the value of the Diploma Programme, there is little data more valuable to me than the number of siblings of current and former DP students who join! Of the current 172 students in the Diploma Programme, 33 of them are siblings of former MHS DP students. That is 19% of our entire DP class. One of those students is, in fact, the 5th of his siblings to join the MHS DP!
As of today, our upcoming DP class of 2022 is comprised of 13 siblings of current and former DP students, making just over 20% thus far. Of all of the DP data that we collect, that is possibly one of the most valuable indicators of the job we are doing as a programme, and certainly one of my favorites!
DP Studies and Articles
There has been much written about the Diploma Programme in the US and worldwide regarding its value and its demands. One article in particular, The IB Impact on Success, caught my attention because it references a Wake Forest University student who talks about how the DP prepared him for the demands of his university experience. Wake Forest has always demonstrated its appreciation for the Diploma Programme. They hold an IB Open House in the fall specifically for DP students, and Martha Allman, their assistant provost, has said, "Send us your DP students. They know how to think!" You can find that and other articles and studies pertaining to the value of the Diploma Programme on student growth, preparation and success HERE.
