Principal's Message for Families, 9/30/2024
Good Morning Sanford Creek Families,
I hope everyone had a safe and dry weekend from Hurricane Helene. For those who have family and friends who live in the western part of the state, I hope they are safe admist the devastating damage from the storm. Although schools were closed Friday, Sept 27, no make-up is required as banked instructional hours were used.
Welcome Back Track 1 families!
THANK YOU to all families who have helped make AM & PM carpool a little smoother by utilizing Scarboro Road as an alternate route.
One way to dissipate traffic at the base of the driveway is to utilize Scarboro and Young Street as an alternate entrance or exit from the school.
Exiting Campus: Turn right at the top of the driveway (granite rock and gravel driveway on right). Take an immediate left onto Scarboro. At the stop sign, turn left onto W. Young Street. Turn left onto Granite Falls Blvd.
Entering Campus: From Rogers Road, take Granite Falls past the school. At the stop sign, turn right onto Young St. Take the next right onto Scarboro. At the stop sign, make a slow and careful right turn to then make a left into the carpool lane/driveway of the school.
PLEASE exercise caution and patience at the top of the driveway and treat it as a four-way stop by taking turns - whether arriving or exiting.
In Partnership,
Tiffany Rich, Principal

REMINDER: TARDY BELL RINGS @ 9:15am
GREAT JOB PARENTS - We had fewer tardies last week! Students need and deserve the opportunity to unpack and get settled in prior to the start of the instructional school day. We have seen an increase in the number of late arrivals through carpool over the past several weeks. Please make every effort to drop your child off before 9:15am. Students arriving after 9:15am must be accompanied by a parent to sign in and receive a tardy slip before going to class.
FIRST QUARTER CONFERENCES
Conferences are held at least 2x each school year. Once at the end of the first quarter and again at the end of the third quarter. Conferences can be held in-person or virtually. Be on the lookout for information about scheduling the first quarter conference with your child's teacher soon.
READ to ACHIEVE PARENT INFO SESSION
Virtual and in-person parent sessions are being offered to all families with students in Grade 3 and invited parents of some fourth-grade students. The session will provide information on the NC Read to Achieve Legislation and how families might partner to support their child as a reader. The same information will be shared at each session. Questions? Contact Emily Murdock (emurdock@wcpss.net)
Tr 1: Virtually, Oct 7 at 9:00am and in-person in the Media Center at 5:00pm.
