Principal's Message for Families, 8/26/2024
Sanford Creek Families,
Tomorrow (8/27) is the first day for traditional calendar schools. As mentioned last week, we know that some of our smooth running processes will be interrupted. Based on past history, increased traffic on roads and bus transportation are the most notable areas (and slight pain points) that require extra doses of patience and grace. Sanford Creek Admin work to minimize the "pain points" for the areas within our control. We had a very smooth start to our school year and wish our traditional calendar counterparts the same.
Interims for students in tracks 3 & 4 will come home tomorrow in your child's Tuesday folder. Last, next Monday, Sept 2 is Labor Day and school will be closed.
Here's to another great week at Sanford Creek !

PTA FUNDRAISER - FINAL DAYS
Thank you for participating in the one major fundraising event of the year! Tracks 3 & 4 have their Fun/Glow run event tomorrow (8/27). Our goal is to raise $32,000 for updated Technology tools for each classroom and school-wide enrichment programs (Cultural Arts, Mini Grants, etc.) and we are over half-way there. There is still time for ALL tracks to donate and help us reach our goal! Thank you for your support!
UPDATE -BUS TRANSPORTATION
Beginning August 27th (start of traditional calendar schools), Green and Yellow buses may depart later from Sanford Creek in the afternoon than in recent weeks. The new anticipated arrival time (on campus) for Green bus is 4:10 PM and Yellow is 4:20 PM. Please note: There is a possibility these buses may arrive on campus before their estimated arrival time. Over the next 3 to 4 weeks, please be patient with our bus drivers as they observe and become familiar with new traffic patterns with the return of traditional school, while ensuring every student is picked up and dropped off safely at their assigned stop. Staff supervision will be provided for students who are waiting for late buses to arrive on campus.
To check if your students' bus is delayed, go to https://busupdates.wcpss.net/ and follow the instructions. You may use the Here Comes the Bus app to monitor bus updates also. For questions or concerns, please contact Gladys Washington at gwashington@wcpss.net or 919-570-2100.
APPLY FOR FREE/REDUCED MEALS
To receive free or reduced-price meals for the 2024-2025 school year, families must submit a meal benefits application online at MySchoolApps.com. Paper copies are available at the front office. For families who completed the meal benefits application for last school year, the benefit continues for their student's first 30 school days of this school year. Breakfast = $1.75 and Lunch = $3.50.
