Chromebook Care Reminders:

As we begin the fourth quarter at school and prepare for End of Grade Testing students in grades 3-5 need to check their devices to be sure their device is working properly for classwork as well as testing. Please assist your student(s) in checking devices for the following:

  • Touchscreen not working

  • Touchpad not working

  • Device charger works and charges device

  • Cracks on the screen

  • All keys type correct letters and perform accurately

  • Volume keys/Headphone and jack works for students with read aloud testing accommodation

Additionally, it is a recommended practice by the county to make sure students are shutting down their computers at least once a week so that new updates can be remotely pushed to the device(s). It is important that throughout the year students are making sure to hold their device with 2 hands, not working on their devices with food or drink around, and charging up their devices each night so that devices will last longer and have less problems. If you feel any of the issues listed above are occurring with your student(s) device please report the problem to your child’s teacher as well as Mrs. Reid in the media center.

Garden STEM Challenge

This Spring, we want to showcase all of our favorite STEM topics at Night of the Arts, and show our Edible Garden some love! For this challenge, you will pick your favorite STEM topic and paint it on a terracotta pot. The pots will be displayed in the Media Center and outside in our Edible Garden! *Must use acrylic paint, so the rain won’t wash your artwork away!

Here are some examples of STEM topics you can decorate your pots with: Lifecycle of a Butterfly, Plants, Outer space, Dinosaurs, Technology, Robots, Engineering & Bridges, and Animals. Deliver to the PTA table in the lobby between Monday May 5-Friday May 9th.

(Be sure to include your name and your teacher’s name on your design!) You may read more information here.

No experience is required and current board members are here to help you learn the ropes!
