Single Subject Acceleration

  • THE SSA TEST REQUEST WINDOW FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR IS MARCH 23-27, 2020

SSA allows students to show mastery of content in select elementary or middle school courses. Students who prove mastery do not have to take the course and may move on to the next level.

Parents may request that we test their child for eligibility to skip a grade level of content in either English Language Arts or Mathematics by submitting a Test Request form during the appropriate window.  Students for whom test requests have been received will be assessed at their school based upon grade level. Depending on grade level and subject, this could include a multiple-choice test and/or a writing sample.

Parents may submit SSA test requests ONLY within specified windows.  Test Request forms for the 2020-2021 school year must be submitted between March 23 and March 27, 2020, and may be obtained HERE (en espanol aqui) or in the front office. Parents/guardians will receive a confirmation e-mail from Ms. Owens once their child's form has been received.  Test Requests will not be accepted outside this window.

Testing will take place from April 20-30, 2020.

Accelerative services for students who qualify begin at the start of the following school year.

Students who do not meet the criteria, who transfer to WCPSS after the testing window, or for whom Test Request forms are submitted after the window has closed will not be accelerated.
