Single Subject Acceleration

  • SSA Test Request Window is Extended to August 31, 2020

SSA allows students to show mastery of content in select elementary or middle school courses. Students who prove mastery do not have to take the course and may move on to the next level.

Parents may request that we test their child for eligibility to skip a grade level of content in either English Language Arts or Mathematics by submitting a request using this form during the appropriate window.  Students for whom test requests have been received will be assessed at their school based upon grade level. Depending on grade level and subject, this could include a multiple-choice test and/or a writing sample.

SSA test requests for the 2020-2021 school year will be received through August 31st. Parents can fill out this form or they can email the SSA Test Request Form to Mrs. Owens at bowens@wcpss.net.  Test Requests already collected will still be valid and these students will be tested in the fall of 2020. All students whose parents requested Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) will be assessed within the first 30 days of remote learning. Testing will occur online between the 11th & the 30th day of school.  We will post dates and information when available.

Students who do not meet the criteria, who transfer to WCPSS after the testing window, or for whom Test Request forms are submitted after the window has closed will not be accelerated.
