Single Subject Acceleration

  • SSA Test Requests for the 2021-2022 School Year

SSA allows students to show mastery of content in select elementary or middle school courses. Students who prove mastery do not have to take the course and may move on to the next level.

Parents may request that we test their child for eligibility to skip a grade level of content in either English Language Arts or Mathematics by submitting a request during the appropriate window.  Students for whom test requests have been received will be assessed at their school based upon grade level. Depending on grade level and subject, this could include a multiple-choice test and/or a writing sample.

SSA test requests for the 2021-2022 school year will be received Februry 22, 2021, through March 22, 2021. Parents must fill out this form to request testing.  Kindergarten students seeking acceleration in Math and students in grades 1-5 seeking acceleration in Math or ELA will be assessed online between April 7 and April 28, 2021. Kindergarten students seeking acceleration in ELA will be assessed during the regular Istation assessment window, May 3-28, 2021.  Ms. Owens will host an informational Google Meet at 6:00 p.m. on February 25, 2021, to answer questions and provide additional information. Meet information and links will be provided via SchoolMessenger and through classroom teachers.

Students who do not meet the criteria, who transfer to WCPSS after the testing window, or for whom Test Request forms are submitted after the window has closed will not be accelerated.
