Single Subject Acceleration

  • SSA Testing for the 2021-2022 School Year is Closed

SSA allows students to show mastery of content in select elementary or middle school courses. Students who prove mastery do not have to take the course and may move on to the next level.

Parents may request that we test their child for eligibility to skip a grade level of content in either English Language Arts or Mathematics by submitting a request during the appropriate window.  Students for whom test requests have been received will be assessed at their school based upon grade level. Depending on grade level and subject, this could include a multiple-choice test and/or a writing sample.

SSA testing for the 2021-2022 school year has been completed.Testing for the 2022-2023 school year will take place in Spring 2022. Information regarding the nomination and testing window and test request procedures will be posted in advance of that time.

Students who do not meet the criteria, who transfer to WCPSS after the testing window, or for whom Test Request forms are submitted after the window has closed will not be accelerated.
