Fuller Falcon Reminders - January 3, 2025

Greetings Fuller Falcon Families, 

The following are important reminders:

Welcome to 2025! We hope everyone enjoyed their winter break and are ready for the exciting year ahead. Each new year is an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been and look forward to where we’re going—and what an incredible journey we have ahead of us! As we look ahead, let’s set our sights high. Let’s dream boldly, learn and grow together, discover and grow our gifts and talents, collaborate meaningfully, and create memories that will last a lifetime!

Donations Needed for Fuller’s Clothes Closet!

We’re running low on long pants for our students and need your help! Our most urgent need is small sizes for kindergarten and 1st graders, but we welcome donations in all children’s sizes.

What we need:

• Gently used long pants (leggings and sweatpants are ideal for their flexibility, but all styles are welcome).
• No shirts at this time—we’re fully stocked on those!

Where to donate:
Please drop off donations at the school, marked “Attention: School Counselors.”

AIG Nominations for 4th and 5th Grade Students

Would you like to nominate your child for the Academically and or Intellectually Gifted program? 

AIG Nomination Window (Academically and Intellectually Gifted Program)

The nomination deadline for 4th and 5th grade students for the 2nd semester/ Spring AIG review is Friday, January 10th.  (Students who are referred for testing will be tested during the testing window between Jan 27th and Feb 7th .) 

 To nominate a student for consideration, please complete the Fuller 2024-25 Spring AIG Nomination Form found on the Fuller website under the announcements and under Academics and then AIG.  You will receive an email confirmation when your form is received. 

Note that the nomination process applies to the following students:

• Fourth and Fifth grade students not currently identified as AIG. 

• Fourth and Fifth grade students interested in adding a second area of AIG identification.

• There will be an AIG information session during our upcoming Curriculum Night.

• Magnet and Year-Round applications: October 14 - January 23

Remember, applications are not first-come, first-served!

Attention 5th Grade Families

As you begin exploring options for middle school, we want to make sure you have all the information you need about applying to Magnet Middle Schools. All students must apply to receive a magnet seat. Educational Leave Requests

Excused absences can be found on the WCPSS Attendance and Absences webpage. Educational opportunities that require an absence from school may be approved with advance notice. Families who wish to request an excused absence for educational reasons should submit the WCPSS Request for Excused Absence for Educational Reasons (English / Spanish) to Mr. Hernandez prior to the absence. Excused absences for educational reasons will be granted only if (1) the primary purpose of the trip is educational and (2) the event does not occur at another time (i.e., launching of space shuttle, presidential inauguration). Please submit this form to the school. The principal will review your request for approval or denial. 

A maximum of ten educational days a year can be approved by Mr. Hernandez. 

Please note that Mr. Hernandez will not approve of any educational absences when a student has missed more than 10 days of school.

Parents, please remind your child to check our Lost and Found for missing items like jackets, water bottles, mittens, and more! It's overflowing and needs your help to find these items their way back home.

📌 Tip: Be sure to label all items with your child's name to make returns even easier.
