Attention Fourth and Fifth Grade Families
Would you like to nominate your child for the Academically and or Intellectually Gifted program?
The second semester AIG nomination deadline for fourth and fifth grade eligible students is Friday, January 5, 2024. To nominate a student for consideration, please complete the 4th-5th Gr Spring 2023-2024 AIG Nomination Form. You will receive an e-mail confirmation when your form is received.
Note that the nomination process applies to the following students:
- Fourth and Fifth grade students not currently identified as AIG
- Fourth and Fifth grade students interested in adding a second area of AIG identification
Students who are currently identified as AIG in both reading and math are not eligible for further testing. Third graders should not be nominated, as all third grade students are assessed each year.
Magnet School Applications
The application for Magnet and Year-Round schools will be open through January 25.
It's important that our fifth grade families apply for schools they wish to attend for middle school. Find more information about your options here: https://www.wcpss.net/applicationprocess
Additionally, if Fuller base attendance families wish to attend a WCPSS Magnet School, it is important that you also apply at this time.

Updates from the PTA
Good evening Fuller Parents, Loved-ones, and PTA supporters-
I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. Winter may finally be here-as is our Winter Staff Appreciation. Festivities are fast approaching and your PTA is hard at work to make this Season of Giving really live up to the hype. Attached is our agenda for the week of celebration. Please support the efforts in whatever way makes sense during this busy time of year.
Quickly, here are a few ways to do just that:
- Wednesday 12/13 Staff Luncheon- volunteers (servers, kid lunch coverage, recess coverage) and donated desserts
- Volunteer Sign-ups here: https://bit.ly/FullerHolidayLuncheon2023
- Candy donations for candy bar on Tuesday 12/12. Think of your favorite sweet throwback. Feel free to ship an Amazon, Target, or Walmart order straight to Fuller. You can also send goodies in with your kiddos. Just drop off goodies with Mrs. Yates in the Main Office.
- Fuller Address: 806 Calloway Drive, Raleigh, NC 27610
- Gift cards for raffle on Friday 12/15 and door-prizes for Ugly sweater contest on Wednesday 12/13
- Already over committed this holiday season? Please consider donating to Holiday Luncheon fund via PTA Store:
- Or send check payable to: Fuller PTA
The staff luncheon on Wednesday, December 13th is by far the biggest lift of the week. We'll have a full catered meal for staffers, and will need volunteer support in the media center, as well as cafeteria duty and recess patrol with the kids to ensure teachers enjoy some much needed merriment. A flier specifically for the luncheon is also attached.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Julie Brenneis, our Staff Appreciation Chair, or myself.
Thank you in advance for helping us pull off these celebrations and being part of our Fuller village!

Absences and Educational Leave Requests
If your child is absent from school for any reason, you must provide written documentation of the reason for the absence immediately upon your child's return to school. You may use the Student Absence Report Form, you may send a written note with your child, e-mail your child's teacher, or call or e-mail our data manager, Cora Lashley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Excused absences can be found on the WCPSS Attendance and Absences webpage. Educational opportunities that require an absence from school may be approved with advance notice.
Families who wish to request an excused absence for educational reasons should submit the WCPSS Request for Excused Absence for Educational Reasons (English / Spanish) to Mr. Hernandez prior to the absence. Excused absences for educational reasons will be granted only if (1) the primary purpose of the trip is educational and (2) the event does not occur at another time (i.e., launching of space shuttle, presidential inauguration). Please submit this form to the school. The principal will review your request for approval or denial.
A maximum of ten educational days a year can be approved by Mr. Hernandez.
Please note that Mr. Hernandez will not approve of any educational absences when a student has missed more than 10 days of school.

Help protect your children -- and their classmates -- when they're under the weather, so that they can return to the classroom healthy and ready to learn. The best thing you can do is to keep your children home when sick.
