• Credit by Demonstrated Mastery

    • Under the state’s Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) option, uniquely qualified students may “test out” or bypass a course if they have already mastered the content. In this way, a student may earn credit for a high school course by demonstrating a deep understanding of course content, without course enrollment or seat time. The option to test for CDM is available to students in grades 8 and above. This option is not designed to replace existing accelerated pathways, such as the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program.

The request window for CDM in the 25–26 school year is September 22nd to November 14th.  Please click here for the CDM Application and Agreement form.  We will also have paper copies of the CDM Application and Agreement form available at WYWLA. You can learn more about the WCPSS CDM process here

At WYWLA, parents may elect to have their child take a CDM assessment for the following courses:

      • English I or English II

      • Math 1, Math 2, or Math 3

      • Biology

      • Spanish

Mrs. Ruiz is the CDM coordinator at WYWLA.  If you have any questions, please contact her at mruiz4@wcpss.net.

    • Due to WYWLA’s limited course scheduling flexibility in high school, students and families considering CDM should also speak with our Dean, Mrs. di Carlo (kdicarlo@wcpss.net), to understand how acceleration could affect high school course planning and the student's high school transcript.
