    COURSE SELECTIONS
     

     Mixed Chorus

                This is a beginning chorus class open to any student who has an interest in singing.  This class is offered primarily to freshmen; however, it is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who wish to take chorus for the first time at WFHS.  Students register for Vocal Music-Mixed Chorus-Beginning (I) to be in this class for the first time.  This class may also contain Vocal Music II students (Intermediate).  Students in this choir will participate in a chorus concert each semester.  Students in this group are also eligible to audition for All-County Chorus, All-State Chorus, and the North Carolina Honors Chorus.
     

    Women’s Ensemble

         This class is an intermediate level class available to young ladies who have successfully completed the beginning level chorus class and have been placed by recommendation of the director.  The group is primarily made up of 10th and 11th grade students who must be in Vocal Music II (Intermediate) or higher and have the recommendation of the director.  Students in this group perform in a chorus concert each semester.  These students may also participate in the NC Large/Small Ensemble Choral Festival (MPA).  Students in this group are eligible to audition for All-County Chorus, All-State Chorus, and the North Carolina Honors Chorus.
     

    Advanced Choir
     

                This is an advanced choral group attainable through audition/director recommendation only.  It is required that students have successfully completed specific chorus objectives and function at an advanced level of musicianship to be considered for this particular group.  This class is for Vocal Music III (Proficient)/IV (Advanced) Honors students.  This group performs very challenging musical literature and continually maintains a high level of achievement.  This group performs in two to three chorus concerts per year.  In addition, this group may perform at other functions such as Pieces of Gold, the NC Large/Small Ensemble Choral Festival (MPA), the Carowinds’ Choral Festival, etc.  Students in this group are highly encouraged to audition for All-County Chorus, All-State Chorus, and the North Carolina Honors Chorus.  This group provides numerous learning experiences and musical opportunities for our students.
