    Weekly Memo:  Good evening Silver Hawk families; this is Principal Carter Hillman with your Weekly Memo:

    • All information provided in this Memo is posted on the VMCCA website under the “Principal’s Message.”
    • Parents:  PTSA needs your help. As PTSA supports the school by providing all students with snacks on AP Practice Day (May 3rd) and Exam Survival Week (May 16th through May 22nd), it needs snack donations.  These donations can be dropped off in the front office at any time.
    • VMCCA is proud to announce its annual Signing Day this Wednesday, April 30th.
    • VMCCA’s Block Party is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6th during the school day.
    • Seniors and Senior Parents:  A reminder of several important dates in May to mark on your calendars:  Tuesday, May 13th is the Senior Awards Banquet starting at 6:00 PM in the gymnasium.  Seniors should arrive by 5:15 PM.  Graduation Rehearsal is Tuesday, May 20th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Meymandi Hall.  Seniors are required to attend this rehearsal to participate in the graduation ceremony.  The VMCCA Graduation Ceremony is on Wednesday, May 21st at 8:00 AM at Meymandi Hall.  Seniors are required to arrive by 7:00 AM. 
    • Parents: Wake County Public Schools is administering a District Wide Family Survey through Friday, May 16. This survey provides families the opportunity to provide valuable information and a high-quality data source for planning and School Improvement.  The survey has been translated into various languages; Spanish, Arabic, French, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese in an effort to provide accessibility to families in Wake County Public Schools. The survey administration language can be chosen by families before taking the survey. The link to access the survey has been updated and can be found on the VMCCA website or Here 
    • Parents: Students have two and a half weeks remaining this school year before we get to final exams.  Please review PowerSchool grades with your student.

    • Congratulations go out to VMCCA staff and students for receiving a national Top Magnet School in the Nation recognition in Nashville, TN last week.
    • Attention Parents and Students: Now that warmer weather is here, we are seeing lapses in the dress code.  Students should not be wearing clothing that exposes undergarments, which includes off-the-shoulder or spaghetti-strap shirts and/or bottoms that are too short.  Students who violate the dress code will be required to remain in the front office until they are appropriately covered for the remainder of the day.  Please have this conversation with your student.
    • Junior and Seniors:  This year's prom, Enchanted Evening, is scheduled for the Talley Center Ballroom on NC State Campus from 7:00 to 11:00 PM this Saturday, April 26th.
    • Parents: Wake County Public Schools is administering a District Wide Family Survey through Friday, May 16.     • Parents: The PTSA is teaming up with the National Honor Society to host a Spring Bazaar! Students will have the chance to participate in Artisan Crafts during lunch from Tuesday, April 15th, through Thursday, April 17th. Tickets are available for purchase on the PTSA school store website.

    • A reminder that students will have school this Thursday, April 17th as this is a makeup day for earlier inclement weather.
    • Junior and Seniors: The deadline to purchase tickets for the Junior/Senior prom online is this Thursday, April 17th.  Cash sales will be available during lunch on Tuesday, April 8th, Monday, April 14th, and Wednesday, April 16th.     • Attention Freshmen Parents: On Tuesday, April 8th, 9th-grade students who are currently enrolled in Healthful Living classes will participate in the Signs of Suicide lesson during class. This past Tuesday, April 1st, students received a parent information letter and an opt-out form in their Healthful Living class. If you do not wish for your student to participate in this lesson, please sign and return the opt-out form to the main office no later than tomorrow, Monday, April 7th. Please reach out to Tracy Taylor at ttaylor5@wcpss.net with any questions.

      We are now in the fourth quarter marking period.  Please keep in mind that this is a shortened quarter.  We have six weeks remaining before the end of the marking period and the beginning of final exams.  
        Students received their registration verification sheets for the 25-26 school year in Fly Friday.       Please review, sign and return them to the front office no later than April 11th.
    • Parents and Students: Skills USA State competition is next Wednesday, April 9th through Friday, April 11th in Greensboro.

    • Junior and Senior Parents: If you would like to start making partial payments for the senior trip and junior/senior prom, that option is now available through the VMCCA website online payment portal. Go to the "Families" tab and look for Student Payments Online.  
    • Senior and Senior Parents: For seniors interested in participating in the Senior Field Trip, the deadline for full payment is this Thursday, March 13th.
    • Juniors and Junior Parents:  All Juniors will take the ACT this Wednesday, March 12th during the morning hours at school.  This is a state requirement for all Juniors.
    • Parents: This is the last week of the third quarter marking period. 
    • Parents and Students: VMCCA’s Spring Break is the week of March 17th through March 21st.  There is no school for students that week.  The fourth quarter begins on Monday, March 24th.
    • Seniors and Senior Parents:  Jostens will be on campus during lunch on Tuesday, March 25th to deliver Cap and Gowns, and Senior Products.  
    • The Senior Trip is scheduled for Friday, March 28th.
    • Keep your students safe, keep in contact with your teachers, and have a good evening.

    • Junior and Senior Parents: If you would like to start making partial payments for the senior trip and junior/senior prom, that option is now available through the VMCCA website online payment portal. Go to the "Families" tab and look for Student Payments Online.
    • Parents:  The PTSA is looking for those interested in holding a PTSA Board position next year.  If you are interested, please send an email stating which position you are interested in to cbustamantevmptsa@gmail.com by March 8th.
    • Juniors and Junior Parents:  ACT Bootcamp will take place for all Juniors this Tuesday and Wednesday, March 4th and 5th during school hours.  The boot camp schedule will work around Wake Tech classes during these days.  All Juniors will take the ACT on Wednesday, March 12th during the morning hours at school.  This is a state requirement for all Juniors.
    • Parents:  Daylights Saving begins on Sunday, March 9th.  Remember to set your clock ahead by an hour and “Spring Forward.”
    • Parents: There are two weeks remaining until the end of the third quarter.  Now would be a great time to review PowerSchool Grades with your students.
    • Parents and Students: VMCCA’s Spring Break is the week of March 17th through March 21st.  There is no school for students that week.  The fourth quarter begins on Monday, March 24th.

    • Parents and Students:  There is no school tomorrow, Monday, February 17th due to a WCPSS Teacher Workday.
    • Junior and Senior Parents: If you would like to start making partial payments for the senior trip and junior/senior prom, that option is now available through the VMCCA website online payment portal. Go to the "Families" tab and look for Student Payments Online.
    • Carpool parents:  We are seeing an increase in students arriving to school late in the morning.  First period begins at 7:25 AM, please plan accordingly.  In addition, parents should not drop students off in visitor parking spaces but in the carpool lane.  We have had several near-miss car accidents and/or students crossing in front of cars which is a major safety concern.  Please use the carpool lane to drop off students.
    • Parents: There four weeks remaining until the end of the third quarter.  Now would be a great time to review PowerSchool Grades with your students.
    • Keep your students safe, keep in contact with your teachers, and have a good evening.

    • Students: As a part of VMCCA’s celebration of Black History Month, we will be hosting a Black History Spirit Week this week, February 10th through the 14th.  Please see the fliers in the building promoting the event to know how to participate each day.
    • Senior Parents: Cap and Gown pictures are scheduled for this Wednesday, February 12th. Seniors must sign up for an appointment, see our website for details.
    • Valentine candy-gram sales will be available this week during lunch.  Students can purchase candy-grams for $1, $3, or $5 to be delivered at the end of the week.  
    • The Valentine's dance will take place this Friday, February 14th from 7:00 to 10:00 PM in the school gymnasium with a special DJ from Music in Motion hosting the event.  Our VMCCA dance team will also perform! Tickets are $5 and available now online or students can purchase tickets during lunch this week.
