Greeting Husky Families,

 

We are looking for a few new Huskies to serve in the role of Instructional Assistants in our Special Education Extended Content Standards classrooms. Typical work day hours are 6:55-2:25 daily. We have a great school and great team of colleagues dedicated to making a positive difference for our students. Please share with someone you believe may make a great addition to the Heritage Husky Family. Interested candidates should apply to the position posted on the WCPSS Careers website.

 

Also, we have a need for substitute teachers. If you are already a registered substitute with WCPSS, call our main office at 919-570-5600 and let us know you are interested in working on our campus. The deadline to register for the October 13 PSAT is approaching.  Registration fee is $18; however, juniors with a 4.34 or higher weighted GPA can test for free.  Fee waivers are available for juniors meeting eligibility criteria.  You can register your 9th and 10th grade student using the online payment tool by September 17.  Juniors register for the PSAT by completing this Google Form- https://tinyurl.com/PSATHusky11 by September 17.  Students should stop by the Counselor Corner with questions.

 

Tuesday, September 14 is Meet the Teacher Night.  This is your opportunity to learn more about the teachers and courses your student has for this semester.  This event is virtual and links for teachers will be posted on the afternoon of September 14.  More details about this event are provided on the “Start of School Information – Events” page.

 

Jostens will be on campus during all three lunches on Friday, September 17 to take cap and gown and class ring orders as well as answer any questions.  Juniors and Seniors participating in the WCPSS Virtual Academy may pick up their Jostens information in the front office from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm.  Virtual Academy Juniors and Seniors may also come to campus on Friday, September 17 from 10:45 am - 12:45 pm to meet with Jostens, if needed.

 

We are excited to announce that graduation for the Class of 2022 is scheduled for Monday, June 13th at 8:00am at the Raleigh Convention Center.

 

Freshmen parents, is your child interested in serving the freshmen class and helping with school decision making.  Student Government Association will hold an interest meeting for all who wish to run for elected office.  Meeting time is September 15 at 7:00 am in the media center.  If you cannot make it please join our google meet hhssga2021 at 7:00 am.  

 

Senior Conferences are well underway.  Seniors are encouraged to bring their completed senior information sheets and any questions they may have to their meeting.  One hundred percent of seniors will receive individual planning time with their counselor in order to accomplish necessary tasks for post high school transition.  Throughout the month of September, Dr. Tate will meet with all 9th graders to familiarize students with available school resources to support a strong start to high school success.

 

The deadline to apply for school nomination for the NCSU Park scholarship program is Monday, September 13.  The deadline to apply for school nomination for the UNC Charlotte Levine Scholars program is Friday, October 1.  Stop by the Counselor Corner or visit the scholarships & financial aid page on the HHS Student Services website for more information.
