Principal's Weekly Message
Good afternoon Middle Creek High School families,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a productive and positive week last week. As we kick off March and hopefully close out the winter weather season, I look forward to continuing with the routine of 5 day weeks. Just a reminder that due to the impact of weather last week, the following teacher workdays will now be instructional days for students and staff: March 14th, April 7th, and May 2nd.
Below you will find additional information and updates for this week. Thank you for your attention to these details.
Information & Reminders:
WCPSS wants parent input:
Complete survey regarding electronic devices in schools by March 7
Parents and community members are invited to share their views regarding cell phones and other electronic devices in schools. A survey for parents and community members is available in English and Spanish, and will be available until March 7. Students and staff members also will be given the opportunity to provide input
ACT for all 11th graders!
The upcoming ACT test is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 12th.
Please take note of the following important details:
Calculator Usage: Your child is allowed to bring their own 4-function, scientific, or graphing calculator for the test. Alternatively, there is a built-in calculator on the computer.
Chromebook: Students need to bring their charged, school issued Chromebooks to school the day of testing.
Testing Room Locations: Upon arrival at school, students are to proceed directly to their assigned testing room. Posters displaying testing locations will be placed around the commons area for your child's reference.
Questions and Clarifications: Should you have any questions or require further clarification regarding the ACT test, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Scicchitano at kscicchitano@wcpss.net. She will be more than happy to assist you.
Attendance Reminders:
As we head further into the second semester, I want to highlight the importance of consistent school attendance. Students must be in regular attendance to do their best work in school. School Board Policy 6000 states, "The Board recognizes that a positive correlation exists between regular attendance and achievement. Therefore, regular attendance is required." Additionally, there are attendance expectations that must be met to maintain privileges (like parking and lunch passes), and earn exemption status as seniors.
When the need for an absence exists, it is imperative that the student returns to school with a note from his/her parent or guardian providing an explanation for the absence and the signature and daytime contact information of the parent or guardian.
If a student has excessive absences it will likely impact their mastery of content and ability to be successful in the class. Teachers, administrators and counselors will be monitoring attendance. More details can be found in the Student Hub linked here and on our website.
Donate Blood & Support MCHS Band:
Middle Creek Band is partnering with The Blood Connection to sponsor a blood drive on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 2:00pm – 6:00pm. Each donor will receive $30 in rewards and $10 per donor will be donated to the band! Each blood donation saves up to 3 lives! Donors need to be at least 16 years old (16 & 17-year-olds need a permission slip which will be at the blood drive), weigh at least 110 pounds, have ID and be in general good health.

Seniors- Class of 2025:
Cap and Gown Delivery
Caps and Gowns were delivered Friday, February 28th during both lunches. If your senior was not able to pick up their cap and gown order Friday - please see Ms. Sullivan in the main office. If you have not ordered a cap and gown yet, it is not too late to order - go to this link. If you have questions, you can talk to Ms. Sullivan in the front office.
Baccalaureate
Baccalaureate is a religious service that celebrates seniors each year and is sponsored by parent volunteers. If you are interested in organizing this event for our 2025 Senior Class, please contact Ms. Shannon Jones at sjones18@wcpss.net and she can provide you with details of what has been done in the past.
Scholarship Reporting for the Class of 2025
We are excited to recognize Seniors who have been offered a scholarship at our Senior Awards Night this May. Please email any scholarship offers to Mrs. Morris at jmorris@wcpss.net. Scholarships can be academic, athletic, arts, or community-based and students do not need to attend the college in order for us to include that in our listing. Last year’s class earned the largest total in MCHS history with over $18 million dollars and we want to see if we can repeat or even beat that total with the Class of 2025!
