It's Teacher Appreciation Week! This special week is a cherished annual occasion when our community can come together to honor the invaluable contributions of our Explorer teachers and support staff.
We encourage everyone to read the details below to see how you can express your appreciation!
Quick Updates/Reminders:
- Don't forget! The deadline to complete the annual Family Engagement Survey is May 17th. Your input is valuable to us, so please take a few moments to share your thoughts by filling out the survey. Thank you for your participation!
- The Wake County Board of Elections has shared that we will be hosting a second primary election on Tuesday, May 14.

Not only do your child's classroom teachers deserve to be recognized, but others do as well! That is why we have paired each teacher with another staff member, so you can be sure to show them your thanks as well. (Names in bold are updated from the holiday pairings list.)
We also have a few staff members who are not paired with a teacher, so if your child benefits from their roles (or even if they don't personally!) feel free to thank them during Teacher Appreciation Week also, in order to make sure they know how valuable they are:

Music Concert - Thursday, 5/9
We welcome families to a wonderful night of music this Thursday. The schedule is listed below. Parking will be available across the carpool lane and behind the school building, in addition to the parking lots.
5:45 - General PTA Meeting
6:00 - 3rd Grade Concert (students report to the music or art room at 5:45)
6:15 - 5th Grade Unity Raps (students report to the media center at 6:00)
7:00 - 4th & 5th Grade Chorus Concert (students report to the music or art room at 6:45)

PTA Board Meeting & Elections
Elections will take place on May 9th at our General PTA Meeting. In addition to PTA Board elections, we will present the PTA budget and vote for its approval as well. This meeting will be brief, from about 5:45 until the concert begins.
Attention Rising 6th Grade Families
From the MPMS PTA President: The Mills Park Middle School PTSA needs you! PTSA is a great way to get involved! Many working parents are able to contribute their time and help their students thrive. Many of the positions are filled by working parents. The rumors are just that, it does not take all of your time!
We have openings on our Staff Appreciation Committee, Spirit Nights, Mills Madness Committee, Newsletter/Webpage, BAC, PBIS/SPOTS, and Member-at-Large. For more information, email president@mpmsptsa.org.

Field Day Needs Volunteers
The school year is winding down and that means Field Day will be here soon. We will have two field days this year.

Monday, June 10 will be Field Day for Kindergarten, First, and Second graders.

Tuesday, June 11 will be Field Day for Third, Fourth, and Fifth graders.

Time: 9:30am-1:00pm both days.
We need lots of volunteers to help make this day a success. If you are available to help out by leading a station, we would love to have you join us. It is a fun day for students, teachers, and parents.
