    Meet the Team

    Media Specialist - Emily Adams — eadams2@wcpss.netWebsiteTwitter

Ms. Adams: Hi! I am originally from Farmington, CT but have called North Carolina home for over 18 years. I absolutely love it here! My adventure in teaching began in 2004 upon graduating with a BS in Birth - Kindergarten Education from East Carolina University. I spent many years teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade prior to moving in to the library. I believe the library is the heart of the school and inspires students to become lifelong readers and learners. I am very much looking forward to working with all the students and teachers at White Oak this year!

Mr. Gilchrist: I have been an elementary art teacher since 1991 and have been in Wake County since 1997. I attended UNCW and graduated from ECU. I grew up in Lillington, North Carolina and worked my first six years in Harnett County. I loved working in the same small rural community in which I had grown up. I moved to Raleigh to see if I could make it in “the big city” and have been here almost 20 years and love it. I currently live in North Raleigh. I also love to travel. I enjoyed 4 weeks in Australia in 2007, 4 weeks across Europe in 2013 and spent 2 weeks in Oahu and Maui in 2018. I have loved art since I was in elementary school and love creating an environment that balances learning about art and helping students find their own creative voice.

Ms. Schreiner: I am so excited to be a part of the White Oak Family! I have always loved music- making it, listening to it and sharing it! I love to sing and play instruments, the clarinet being the one that I have played the longest. (Since I was 10!) I started teaching in NY, where I am from, and I taught there for five years- K-5 General Music, 5th grade band, orchestra, chorus and instrument lessons. A few years ago I moved to NC to work with the NCSymphony. I loved being a part of the action - programming concerts, working with the artists and getting to see the beautiful state of North Carolina. I knew I had found my home! I couldn’t stay away from the classroom for too long though! I am so excited to be a part of the White Oak family and I am looking forward to a great year of music making. When I am not making music, I love to cook and craft and spend time with my family and friends.
