Mr. Gilchrist: I have been an elementary art teacher since 1991 and have been in Wake County since 1997. I attended UNCW and graduated from ECU. I grew up in Lillington, North Carolina and worked my first six years in Harnett County. I loved working in the same small rural community in which I had grown up. I moved to Raleigh to see if I could make it in “the big city” and have been here almost 20 years and love it. I currently live in North Raleigh. I also love to travel. I enjoyed 4 weeks in Australia in 2007, 4 weeks across Europe in 2013 and spent 2 weeks in Oahu and Maui in 2018. I have loved art since I was in elementary school and love creating an environment that balances learning about art and helping students find their own creative voice.

Coach Brady: I am a K-12 Certified Health and Physical Education Teacher and have been teaching since 2000. I spent my first five years teaching Health and Athletic Training classes in High School and have been teaching Elementary PE since 2005. I love learning new things and find physical activity to be vitally important in my life. When not teaching at school, I can usually be found teaching fitness class, rock climbing, or paddleboarding on Jordan Lake. As a Physical Education Teacher, I hope to help students find a passion for physical activity. I enjoy working with students helping them to discover and develop new talents. I try to create an environment where students can experience new activities and make them more efficient movers.

Mr. Godfrey: Just whistle a happy tune! Hi! My name is Leah Godfrey and I am the music specialist here at White Oak Elementary. I studied vocal music at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed my post-graduate work there as well. I first taught high school chorus and, after four years of teaching at that level, I decided I wanted to take on a new professional challenge. I have been honored to be the music specialist at WOE and am looking forward to another great school year! In my spare time, I absolutely love to cook, spend time with family and friends and watch movies. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have about your student(s) in the music room or any performances we will have!
