WCPSS SUBSTITUTE TEACHER CAMPAIGN Our district has recently launched a campaign to recruit substitute teachers. Our subs receive training, work flexible hours and earn bi-weekly pay and incentives based on the number of jobs they pick up. 8TH GRADE PARENT HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION MEETING: Zebulon GT Magnet Middle School Student Services Department will be hosting a virtual 8th Grade Parent Night on Tues Jan 26th at 6 PM. The link to join will be available on the Zebulon Middle School website. High School registration information will be shared and there will be an opportunity for questions to be answered from High School Student Services staff members.
FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT NIGHT (FACE): Join us Thursday night 630-730 as we partner with WCPSS Family Academy for our Family & Community Engage Night. This Thursday’s focus will be How to Motivate Your Child to Thrive in School by learning to Navigate the Different Platforms that Teachers and Students Use Virtually. Make sure to tune in and listen for applicable strategies that can be used by student and parent to assist students. This is definitely a topic you will not want to miss!!!! We have definitely missed our families and look forward to seeing you virtually Thursday. The meet link will be posted on our website the evening of the event.
MATERIAL DISTRIBUTION PICK-UP will be held February 3 from12-6pm. We will process pick-ups in front of the building. You will need to access the pick-up line by turning onto E. Stronach and then N. Privette Street and turn left onto campus to access the carpool lane. You will stay in your vehicle and windows closed. As a result please place a piece of paper in your window which details Grade Level and Student Name. Once someone approaches your vehicle with the materials please pop your trunk. Quarter 3 materials are needed in order for students to access their work.
IMPORTANT I-READY INFORMATION:
The I-ready middle of the year testing window will open on Wednesday 1/20/2021 and end on Thursday 2/11/2021. This assessment provides valuable data as we work to meet the individual learning needs of students. You have been contacted by one of your child's teachers via talking points and/or email with pertinent information if your child is going to take the Middle of the Year I-ready assessment. Students will take the assessment virtually in small groups during designated dates/times which have been communicated with you from one of your child's teachers. We will have a live virtual parent session to go over the details of this assessment and answer any questions you may have about assisting your student with the assessment virtually. This session will take place on Tuesday 1/19/2021 from 2:30pm - 3pm and you can use this link to join. Live MOY I-ready Parent Session . ATHLETICS: As we continue to push forward through this year, ALL Middle School Athletics will be suspended until students return on campus for face-to-face learning (no sooner than February 15th). When we receive more updates from the district, we will make sure to inform everyone via newsletter and Athletic website. In the meantime, please continue uploading and completing the necessary documents to participate (link is below). REMOTE LEARNING /ASYNCHRONOUS DAYS:. On these day, students should sign into their Google Classrooms and complete the assignments posted. Students should also attend their small groups to extend their learning and for assistance.

FYI: Funding Available for Families Impacted by Remote Learning
To help support families impacted by remote learning, Wake County Government has launched a new assistance program called WakeSUPPORTS. WakeSUPPORTS provides funding to working parents, so they can afford to pay for their K-8th grade student to attend virtual school at a safe location with reliable oversight, or receive before and after school care. It also can pay for fees that accompany subsidized childcare for families who meet specific income criteria.
TALKING POINTS: Please download the TalkingPoints for Parents mobile app to communicate with your child's teachers. You will automatically be connected to your child's teachers if you use the cell phone number listed in PowerSchool. If your cell phone number is incorrect or needs updating, please call us at 919-404-3630 and we can change it for you.

- Please check your child's bus route information in HomeBase: Powerschool or https://www.wcpss.net/Page/5943. Please download Here Comes the Bus App to track the bus on your phone. If you have questions please call the front office.
- Carpool is now in front of the school near the gym entrance. Carpool Information Please click the link. Students can be dropped off at 7:45am and pick up is at 3:00pm. Students must stay in their vehicle to be screened in the mornings. You will turn onto E. Stronach and then N. Privette Street and turn left onto campus to access carpool.
- Please refrain from sending sick students to school as they will be placed away from peers in the Care Center awaiting parent pick-up and await clearance to return to on site instruction. Remember that students can ALWAYS access classes from home.
- All students can get free breakfast prior to going to 1st period and are offered free lunch while in rotation on site.
