STEMblazers is a new STEM program for high school girls interested in STEM careers, hosted by Campbell University in 2024! They provide programming and opportunities for the students to meet "real" women in STEM, ask questions, and work through a real hands-on activity related to the speaker's job. We have partnered with the amazing women at Campbell University to kick off a new chapter on their campus. We'd love to meet you at the upcoming club sessions! The programs will be on Saturdays: February 10, March 9, and April 13, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. The events will be held at Campbell University, 143 Main St, Buies Creek, NC 27506. Lunch will be provided. The cost is $50. Scholarships are available upon request. For more information: http://bit.ly/STEMblazers.

Career Events for December 2023 - Program Spotlight: Wake AHEC (Waiting list only!)

Wake AHEC Virtual Mini Medical School Winter 2024 Virtual Mini-Med Flyer-Winter 2024.pdf

We want to extend an invitation to 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students for our upcoming Virtual Mini-Medical School program. This live, online program includes anatomy & physiology (dissection), neurology, pharmacology, cardiology, epidemiology, medical genetics, health career round tables, and genomics, among other topics taught by Becky Brady, a registered nurse and chemical engineer and guest speaker.

In addition, you will learn how to perform CPR (please note, that due to the online nature of the camp, this is not CPR certification).  Students must have the internet to attend the live Zoom conferences to participate.

The program will be on Thursdays from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm starting January 30, 2024, through February 28, 2024, with additional instructions on Thursday, February 1, and Wednesday, February 21, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

The cost is only $50.00 for the whole program, which includes materials and kits (including an organic chemistry set, blood pressure kit, inflatable CPR manikin, and more) which will be mailed before camp.

You may register via our website: https://www.wakeahec.org/CourseCatalog/HC_courseinfo.asp?cr=6159. If you need alternate payment accommodation, please contact Becky Brady if you have questions, bbrady@wakeahec.org.

Space is limited, and the program usually fills up very quickly (within a couple of days), so be sure and sign up as soon as possible! Please feel free to contact us with any questions: bbrady@wakeahec.org.

We look forward to seeing you online at our Virtual Mini-Medical School program! Becky Brady, RN, Associate Director, Wake AHEC Health Careers, http://www.wakeahec.org/hchome.htm
