Carpool Procedures at Farmington Woods
FWES Carpool Lane is RIGHT TURN ONLY in and out- vehicles entering must access via Cary Parkway to turn RIGHT into FWES and vehicles exiting must turn RIGHT onto Hampton Valley Road as per Cary Police. No left turns into FWES from Hampton Valley Road are allowed. Cary Police regularly monitor the area for safety and compliance and will issue tickets if needed.
All cars participating in carpool should refrain from using a cell phone while moving through the drop off and pick up area to maintain the safety of students and staff at all times.
Information outlined below is modeled here: FWES Carpool Procedures Video
Morning Carpool Drop Off- Carpool drop off operates only at the front entrance to the school. During arrival carpool, the Cary Police has designed a right turn only traffic pattern- cars may ONLY turn right into the FWES parking lot to access carpool from Cary Parkway to Hampton Valley Road and upon exiting right turns on to Hampton Valley Road are ONLY allowed. Carpool will begin when appropriate staff are on duty to ensure student safety. Cars should remain waiting at the sign before the service road until requested to approach. Students should exit through the sidewalk side of the vehicle- adults and safety patrol are not allowed to move around to the driver side of the vehicle to assist.
-
Remember that our morning news program and birthday announcements are shared at 9:05am and instruction for students BEGINS at 9:15am.
-
If your child arrives after the 9:15am tardy bell (staff will have left the carpool loop), you MUST escort your child to the front door and WAIT with your child to sign them in late.
Afternoon Carpool Pick Up-
-
Families who will pick up students at dismissal in carpool must register to receive a carpool tag.
-
*Note that for student safety, students are issued a new carpool number each school year.
-
Pre-Register for your Carpool Tag- and pick up at Open House (pre-registration info will be sent to all families in August- Pre-Registration closes Monday, August 18 at 9:00am)
-
-
Students are only released to vehicles showing the School Issued Carpool Tag. Each family will receive 2 tags. Additional Carpool tags can be purchased from the front office for the exact amount of $2.00 each (cash or check only). Cars without a School Issued Carpool Tag will be asked to pull over and show identification at the Front Door to sign out the student.
-
Walking to the front door with a carpool tag is not be allowed for student pick up, remain in the line at all times.
-
-
Students will be dismissed directly from the classroom when their carpool # is displayed in the classroom. It is important that students learn their carpool # and recognize their car to expedite the process.
-
Cars should always pull as far forward as possible before stopping for loading. When all cars in the loading zone come to a complete stop, students will be released and loaded into their appropriate vehicle.
-
Vehicles may not pass stopped, already loaded or waiting to be loaded vehicles in the carpool lane and must remain in a single line throughout the pick up process.
-
For safety, the carpool lane will begin when all walkers have left the carpool loading area- typically around 3:45pm. The first few weeks of school will be the longest waits due to students learning numbers and families learning procedures. Please stagger your arrival at the carpool between 3:45-4:00pm to assist with traffic flow. After the first few weeks, Carpool pick up will conclude at 4:10pm daily.
-
Late Pick Up Carpool: If parents arrive after carpool staff have left the loop, the parent must go to the front door call box to show ID for sign out of the student.
-
Consistent late pick up families will be asked to enroll in the afterschool program.
-
To ensure the safety of all students at dismissal, students WILL NOT be dismissed from 3:15-3:50pm.
Thank you for your cooperation!
