Hello families! My name is Catherine Dean, and I am a 3rd-grade teacher at Yates Mill. Here’s a little bit about me:

 

I graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (STEM concentration) and additional licensure in Teaching English as a Second Language. I was honored to attend on a full-ride merit scholarship as a Park Scholar. I also minored in both Spanish and Teaching English as an Additional Language. More recently, I earned my Master of Education with a concentration in Elementary Mathematics, also at NC State. 

 

I speak Spanish and love incorporating different languages and cultures into our classroom community. I’m passionate about making learning fun, meaningful, and engaging. My goal is to help every student grow in confidence, discover their strengths, and develop a love for learning.

 

A few fun facts about me:

I was born in San Antonio, Texas, but have lived in North Carolina for most of my life. Outside of school, I enjoy dancing, reading, playing piano, and being involved at my church. I also played saxophone in the NC State marching band and still love cheering on the Wolfpack at football and women’s basketball games. These days, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my sweet shih tzu puppy, Frita!
