Hi! My name is Joette Basham, and I am excited to be serving Oakview Elementary as your School Social Worker. I am here to serve students and their families to ensure all students have what they need to need to learn and to remove barriers that may be in the way!
I completed my undergrad degree at Meredith College in 2001 and then received my MSW (Masters in Social Work) from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2007. I have been a School Social Worker with WCPSS since 2011. Prior to joining WCPSS, I have had experience with Child Protective Services, the Food & Nutrition Services program (food stamps), and a local domestic violence prevention and support agency.
I am born and bred in North Carolina. I grew up in Salisbury, NC, but I now reside in Fuquay-Varina with my spouse, who is a high school teacher, and two sons, Quinlan and Declan. We also have 3 dogs who are a part of our family - Alex, Barney, and Chuy. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, working out in the yard, trying out new recipes, and playing games.
