BA in Communications from Peace College K-6 Teaching License from Meredith College Master of Education in Reading from Meredith College National Board Certified Teacher
Ms. Stephanie Moore
I began my teaching career at Apex Elementary where I taught 2nd grade for 10 years. After my husband, Roy, and I welcomed twins (Wes and Leah) in 2006, I stayed home with them until they went to transitional Kindergarten. At that time, I was eager to get back into the classroom, so I began working part-time at West Lake Elementary in 2011 as a Literacy Intervention Teacher and Coach. I was so excited to continue my career in education by helping open Oakview Elementary School in 2016. As the Literacy Coach and Interventionist, I love supporting teachers with literacy instruction and helping students grow in their reading. Reading not only builds skills, it builds imagination, joy, and confidence.
I grew up in McAdenville, Christmas Town USA (http://www.mcadenville-christmastown.com), a small town outside of Charlotte. After graduating high school, I attended Peace College and received a BA in Communications in their first 4-year graduating class while also attending Meredith College working on my K-6 Teaching License. After a couple of years into my teaching career I had a strong desire to improve my literacy instruction; therefore, I returned to Meredith College and received my Master of Education in Reading. In 2005-2006, I pursued my National Board Certification. I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2006 and renewed my certification in 2015. I consider myself a lifelong learner!
Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my husband Roy, our twins Wes and Leah (age 19), and our sweet dog Lola (8). Now that we’re empty nesters, Roy and I are learning to navigate this new season of life. As a family, we enjoy spending time on the water, cheering on NC State and the Carolina Hurricanes, and traveling. I also treasure time with friends, participating in Bible studies, reading, exercising, walking, and savoring a good cup of coffee.
I look forward to another wonderful year partnering with Oakview’s students and families!
