Coding & Robotics Club

  • Salem Elementary is excited to introduce a new club for the 2019-2020 school year! The coding and robotics club will be open to all students in grades 3-5 and will meet on Monday mornings from 8:15-9:15 am. Brandon Mize and Paige Laug will be co-leading the club, with the help of parent volunteers. The mission of this club is to . . .

    • increase exposure to 21st century skills that will serve all students
    • incorporate part of the Wake County School System’s Vision 2020 by integrating student collaboration and communication when working in groups
    • foster critical thinking through hands-on projects
    • encourage creativity by letting students choose coding activities
    • teach students how to use coding to manipulate robots in order to solve real-world problems
    • involve parents as co-leaders of the club

Third grade students will be building Lego robots! Fourth and Fifth students will be learning how to code and drive Spheros!  Each track will meet 11 times this school year.
