Mr. Michael Sutton
Greetings, Owls! It is with great excitement that I join Oakview as an administrative intern for the 2018-2019 school year.
I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky, but grew up in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. Several family members still reside in each city, making for an obvious road trip destination whenever possible. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004 with an undergraduate degree in Spanish and history, and earned my teaching certification and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Western Carolina University in 2011. After student teaching in the Asheville area, my wife and I moved to northern Virginia, where I taught middle school math for four years. We then relocated to the Raleigh area, where I continued my teaching career at Apex Friendship High School. The next step of my educational journey led me to return to UNC, as I am currently pursuing my Master of School Administration (MSA) degree.
My time away from school is spent with my wife and son. He was born in October 2017 and is our pride and joy. I also enjoy traveling to new places (even if it means just a couple of towns away).
I am thankful for the opportunity to work with the students, staff, and parents of Oakview this year, and look forward to getting to know the school community!
