Mr. Steve Moore
I am “over the top” excited to be the first principal of Oakview Elementary School. I am originally from Benson, NC just down the road in Johnston County. After completing my undergraduate degree at UNCW, I began my teaching career teaching 5th grade at Bolivia Elementary School in Brunswick County, NC. After two years at Bolivia Elementary, I transferred to Gregory Elementary School in Wilmington, NC. There I taught 5th grade for three years and decided it was time to return home to the Triangle Area. I had the great fortune of beginning my educational career in the Wake County Public School System at Timber Drive Elementary. I was a part of the Timber Drive family for 11 years, and during that time I taught 5th grade, was the Technology Facilitator, was the Instructional Resource Teacher, and finally was the Assistant Principal. In 2009 I had the great fortune of becoming the principal at Fuquay-Varina Elementary School. It was then I discovered the awesome schools in the Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs area. So, when the opportunity to open Oakview Elementary School came along, it was a dream in the making. I can’t wait to begin this journey with all the students, parents, and staff.
While away from school, I enjoy spending time with my family and my “greyt” dog, Murphy. He is a retired Greyhound race dog but now enjoys his retirement on my sofa for the majority of each day. Being a native North Carolinian, I recognize how fortunate we are to have such tremendous beauty in our state, from the mountains to the coast. However, my refuge is going to Oak Island, NC. That is where I am able to reflect, regroup, and rejuvenate!
