Dear Rand Road Families, 

Good afternoon, this is Tammy Carey, your Principal, with your weekly message. I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and the extra hour with Daylight Savings.

This Friday night, Nov. 8th is Family Movie Night. Bring some lawn chairs and blankets and join us on the field to watch “Inside Out 2”. Hotdogs, chips, candy and drinks will be available for purchase. All proceeds support the 5th Grade field trip to Washington, DC.

Congratulations to our yearbook cover design winners. The following students' artwork will be featured on the cover of this year's yearbook!

• 1st place, for front cover and a free yearbook is Grace Jump, 4th Grade-Ms. Ninich

• 2nd place, for back cover is Ellie Griffin, 2nd Grade-Mr. Bethel

• 3rd place, for back cover is Lucas Cummins, 3rd Grade-Mr. Hough

Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, is Election day and there is no school for students. We will see you back on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024.

Wednesday, 3rd and 4th graders will take their first NC Math Check-In. 5th Grade students will take their NC STAR BOY.  These assessments are formative and provide us with information on students' strengths and areas of need. Thank you for having your students on time and well rested.

Last week was a busy week of field trips. All the trips went very well and the students had a wonderful time. Thank you to the parents who volunteered as chaperones. We could not have done these trips without your support.

Remember to turn in your family recipe card. We want our Recipe Book to reflect the diversity in our Rand Road Family. The deadline for submitting the recipe cards is Friday, Nov. 8, 2024.

Thank you for your cooperation in following WCPSS safety protocols. In order to keep everyone safe, everyone visiting a school, for any reason, is required to sign in at the front office. For an easier check-in process, please have a driver’s license or state-approved ID from any state with you.
