Dear Rand Road Families, 

Good afternoon, this is Tammy Carey, your Principal, with your weekly message.

We are soaring through this first month of school. I hope everyone is doing well now that Tropical Storm Debbie has left the area. We are thankful that our area sustained minor damage.

Now that all of our students, including our Kindergartners and Pre-K students, have started school, we request that parents no longer walk their child to class. I assure you we have many staff members on duty to ensure your young ones get where they need to go and to help carry supplies brought in. If there is an unusual circumstance requiring you to go past the main lobby, you will need to sign in at the front office. 

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the first PTA meeting on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. The PTA will share important information regarding this school year’s planned activities. I will also be sharing information on what it means to be a Title One school.

All 5th grade parents, there will be an informational meeting regarding the overnight Blue Jay Point trip immediately before the PTA meeting at 5:30pm.

Additionally, information regarding the first fundraiser, Go Play Save coupon books, will be reviewed. Books will be sent home with students on this day. Please consider purchasing one of these books with money savings coupons for your family and to support our PTA.

On Wednesday, August 14, our 3rd grade students will take the NC Beginning of Grade Assessment (BOG). Please make sure your child arrives at school on time and well rested. We will continue to try and schedule the majority of assessments on Wednesdays. As you schedule appointments, please try to avoid Wednesdays, so students will be present.

Thank you for your cooperation in following district safety protocols. In order to keep everyone safe, everyone visiting a school, for any reason, is required to sign in at the front office. For an easier check-in process, please have a driver’s license or state-approved ID from any state with you.
