Dear Rand Road Families,

Good afternoon, and welcome or welcome back for the 2024-2025 school year! This is Tammy Carey, your Principal, with your weekly message.

For those new to Rand Road, each week I will send a parent message on Sundays at 4:00pm with important information and updates. If you are signed up to receive emails as well, you will also receive an email with the information. The information is posted weekly on our school website, wcpss.net/randroades

Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! We hope you had a wonderful summer filled with memorable moments and cherished time together. As we embark on this academic journey, our theme for the year is "Be an Everyday Hero."

Every day offers us the opportunity to make a positive impact, no matter how small. Whether it's a kind word, a helping hand, or an act of courage, these everyday heroic actions can make a world of difference in our community. We encourage each student, parent, and staff member to embrace their inner hero and contribute to creating a supportive and inspiring environment.

Tomorrow is the first day for all 1st - 5th grade students. We know it is certain to be an exciting one! Kindergartners will have staggered entry this week and should come on their scheduled day and time.

If you are bringing your child to school, use the carpool lane. Please have students on the passenger side of the vehicle and a staff member will open the door to greet and assist them, making sure they get to the right classroom. In the afternoon, please have your carpool number posted on your front window. We will have your children ready and assist them in the car.

If your child is riding the bus, please be at the bus stop early, by at least 15 min. Your child will be greeted by staff and will also receive assistance to make sure they get to the right classroom. In the afternoon, again please arrive early at the stop. Remember, Kindergarten and 1st grade students will not be dropped off unless an adult is there waiting for them.

Check your child’s bookbag for important information once they arrive home. As always, please call the front desk with any questions.

In order to keep everyone safe, everyone visiting a school, for any reason, is required to sign in at the front office. For an easier check-in process, please have a driver’s license or state-approved ID from any state with you.

Together, we can achieve greatness and make this school year one to remember. Let's celebrate the hero in each of us and strive to uplift and empower one another daily.

Here’s to a year of growth, learning, and heroism!

Sincerely,

Tammy Carey
