WECHS Principal's Weekly Message 1/13/2023
Happy Friday!
Happy New Year! Welcome back to what’s going to be a great spring semester.
Earlier this week, we had our first school-wide assembly on the PHS campus (in my twelve-year tenure) that wasn’t the Honor Roll Breakfast. Students were tasked with re-envisioning descriptors and images representing the WECHS P.R.I.D.E.: Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Excellence. I was very proud of the students' focus and creativity. This work will be shared with the Principal’s Advisory Council for the next steps in developing the final draft.
Monday, January 16, is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a federal holiday and National Day of Service. WECHS and WTCC will be closed. Everyone is encouraged to make this a “day on, not a day off.” MLK Day of Service, US Department of the Interior
Thursday, January 19, PHS Campus Events!
We know it’s hard to get to campus. You live all over the county, and if you have more than one student, you have conflicting schedules and priorities. So, this Thursday, we’ve combined programming and are offering dinner and child care to make things a little easier, hopefully. That evening we have the following events:
PHS Spring Semester Meet the Teacher: 5:30-6:30: Drop by and meet your student’s teachers for the spring semester. PHS Campus, Building C, Teacher’s Classrooms
WECHS PTSA Meeting: 6:30-7:00: Open to All Families, Staff, and Students: Join the PTSA, become an officer if interested, and learn what’s planned for this year and how you can support the students and staff at WECHS. PHS Campus, Building A
Road to the Wake Tech Associate's degree: 7-7:30/7:45: Families and students can learn how students can earn the associate's degree and the other health sciences certificates and degrees from WTCC. This is open to all, and it’s never too early to start planning. PHS Campus, Building A
Dinner and child care are being offered for those in attendance! Please register at this link so we can plan accordingly!
PHS Honor Roll Breakfast for the 2nd quarter/1st semester is Friday, January 27th at 7:20 am. Please sign up at this link to donate breakfast items and volunteer your time.

Class of 2024 Senior Trip (non-school sponsored)
The senior class of 2024 trip. It is an amazing opportunity for seniors.
The trip is an 11-day trip to Tanzania (travel days included) planned by Explorica. It would be non-school sponsored and scheduled for spring break or summer 2024.
It is a volunteer-based trip where students volunteer in local villages, teaching children, building parks, and bringing freshwater access. At the end of the trip, there would be a traditional dinner and wildlife safari excursion. This trip allows students to become active global citizens, experience foreign cultures like never before, and have the experience of a lifetime.
It would be an amazing way to end our time at WECHS. My mother is committed to coordinating in chaperoning the trip. There is a link below with more information.
