⚓Weekly Update 05/29/22

OCE Families,

It was a busy week at OCE. Track 1 has completed EOG testing and they are heading into their last week of school! I am so proud of all the hard work happening at OCE. Please see below for some updates.

Like you, I am deeply saddened by the tragedy that unfolded in Uvalde, Texas. I wanted to assure you that we take our approach to student safety seriously at OCE.

OCE has strong security plans and procedures in place. In response to this event, there are a few things to know:

  • As a school, we are reviewing all security and safety related plans and procedures as a staff.

  • Law enforcement officers are proactively visiting campuses. This is not a response to a safety concern.

  • If your child is feeling concerned and you would like guidance and support, please reach out to our school counselors.

Additionally, I wanted to remind you of protocols that are still in place when a student has Covid-19 symptoms or a diagnosis. Please review the following:

Keep students home when sick.

Students or staff may not enter a WCPSS facility if:

  • Instructed to quarantine

  • Sick or experiencing any of these symptoms of illness fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

    • Please email the school administrators and your teacher if you have a Covid-19 diagnosis.
    • A staff member will follow-up with you and provide the date of your earliest possible return
    • Click here for additional information on covid timeframes
    • Positive cases will be reported to the Wake County Health Department and a health department representative will follow up with you within 48 hours.
    • Upon return to school, a mask must be worn through day 10 of your illness.
