Public input sessions regarding proposed 2025-26 budget

You are invited to attend the final public input session this evening to share your thoughts with Board members and staff regarding the proposed 2025-26 budget. It will be held at the Southeast Raleigh YMCA, 1436 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. today. Spanish interpretation will be provided. A speaker sign-up form link is available at wcpss.net until 5:30 p.m. Speakers may also sign up in person beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Our finalists for the 2024-25 WCPSS Teacher of the Year have been announced! We congratulate these educators on this significant achievement and are excited to announce our winner at a special celebration on May 1.

Nominations now open for WakeEd’s Star Among Us Award

WakeEd Partnership’s annual "Star Among Us" award is designed to recognize the brilliance of one WCPSS educator who is making a difference in their school and in their community-at-large. Nominations are open now through May 9. 

 

Transition and Community Agency Fair on May 6 for middle and high school students with special needs

Attendees can engage with representatives from a wide variety of community services agencies and learn more about guardianship and adult services available after graduation. The event will be held at Zebulon Middle School, 1000 Shepard School Road, Zebulon, on May 6 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Spanish translation services will be available.

 

PowerSchool data breach: Enroll in free credit monitoring and identity protection by May 30

To keep you informed, we are sharing the following reminder from PowerSchool regarding the nationwide data breach incident involving student and staff data. Families and staff have until May 30 to sign up for complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring. 

 

PowerSchool will use the Experian credit reporting agency to provide complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services to current and former students and educators whose information was accessed during the incident. PowerSchool is doing this regardless of whether an individual’s Social Security Number was accessed. In our district, no student Social Security Numbers were accessed during the breach. 

 

You may also visit PowerSchool’s website to learn how to activate the offering from Experian. We will continue to share relevant updates from PowerSchool and/or the North Carolina Department of Instruction as we receive more information.

Learning Express para EOG: Práctica disponible para estudiantes de 4º a 8º grado

¡Los Exámenes de Fin de Grado (EOG, por sus siglas en inglés) se acercan rápidamente! Ayude a su estudiante a tener éxito con Learning Express, una herramienta en línea fácil de usar que ofrece práctica enfocada en matemáticas y artes del lenguaje inglés para estudiantes de la escuela primaria e intermedia (grados 4º a 8º). Con tutoriales interactivos, exámenes de práctica y ejercicios de desarrollo de habilidades, Learning Express apoya tanto el aprendizaje en el aula como el estudio independiente. Los asistentes pueden interactuar con representantes de una amplia variedad de agencias de servicios comunitarios y aprender más sobre la tutela y los servicios para adultos disponibles después de la graduación. El evento se llevará a cabo en la Escuela Intermedia Zebulon, 1000 Shepherd School Road, Zebulon, el 6 de mayo de 4:30 a 7:30 PM. Se ofrecerán servicios de interpretación en español.

 

Violación de datos de PowerSchool: Inscríbase en el monitoreo de crédito y protección de identidad sin costo antes del 30 de mayo

Con el fin de mantenerlo informado, compartimos el siguiente recordatorio de PowerSchool sobre el incidente de violación de la seguridad de los datos a nivel nacional que involucró datos de estudiantes y personal escolar. Las familias y el personal escolar tienen hasta el 30 de mayo para inscribirse en el servicio gratuito de protección de identidad y monitoreo de crédito. 

 

PowerSchool utilizará la agencia de informes crediticios Experian para ofrecer servicios complementarios de protección de identidad y monitoreo de crédito a estudiantes y maestros actuales y anteriores cuya información fue accedida durante el incidente. PowerSchool está ofreciendo este servicio sin importar si el número de Seguro Social de una persona fue accedido. En nuestro distrito escolar, no se accedió a ningún número de Seguro Social de los estudiantes durante la violación de seguridad. 

 

También puede visitar el sitio web de PowerSchool para aprender cómo activar el servicio de Experian. Continuaremos compartiendo actualizaciones relevantes de PowerSchool y/o del Departamento de Instrucción de Carolina del Norte a medida que recibamos más información.
