Principal's Weekly Message - 11/20/23
Happy Sunday, Pride Families,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I reflect on the abundance of gratitude that fills our hearts here at LRHS. With immense appreciation, I extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for your continued support and partnership in the education of our students.
Reminder-Wednesday, November 22-24-Thanksgiving Holiday- No school for staff and students.
Procedures for Early Student Checkout:
- Please have your child bring in a parent note first thing in the morning before school starts. The note must have the time your student needs to check out and a phone number where a parent/guardian can be contacted.
- The attendance office will call to verify the student’s release from school. The note will become the pass for the student to leave class at the specified time.
- The student will return to the attendance office to sign themselves out and receive a yellow early release pass.
- The student will meet you outside or drive themselves off campus. Please be reminded the last checkout is at 1:45 pm. Please plan accordingly.
- Parents may not check students out via phone calls or emails to the attendance office
Pre-ACT Scores
Just over 600 sophomores completed the PreACT in November. Score reports should arrive at LRHS in mid-December and will be distributed to students in 1st-period classes.
ACT Workkeys Assessments (CTE concentrators)
Nearly 300 seniors have been identified as CTE Concentrators and will take the ACT Workkeys assessment over the next few weeks. CTE Concentrators are currently enrolled in or have previously completed a level 2 CTE course. Identified students and their parents should have received an email from Ms Arwood.
Please see this document for answers to the most frequently asked questions. The ACT Workkeys website also provides general information about the assessment, including sample questions and a practice test. Please reach out to Dr. Lecorchick at dlecorchick@wcpss.net with any questions related to being identified as a CTE Concentrator and to Ms. Arwood at karwood@wcpss.net with any questions related to the test administration at LRHS.
The Reality of Money Event
We need 30 volunteers per period for the Reality of Money Event! The events will occur on Friday, December 1, 2023, and April 26, 2024, in the Media Center. Leesville Road High School is having the Reality of Money Event for our Seniors, which is a hands-on financial education simulation designed for seniors in Economics and Personal Finance. Students learn, as they participate, about how their choices affect their budget and lifestyle.
