Principal's Weekly Message - 9/2/2019

This is Ian Solomon, Principal of Leesville Road High School sharing the latest news and upcoming events.

First Day of School Lunch Concerns

Many of you are aware of the crowding we had during lunch on the first day of school. A few of you have voiced concerns to me. Please be assured that the crowding on Monday is not the norm and subsequent SMART Lunch Mondays will have much less crowding. To help ease the crowding moving forward, both gyms will be open during SMART Lunch starting September 9. Students are also able to access teachers’ classrooms and the library during lunch by securing passes from their teachers or the library. Finally, Club and extracurricular activities get started this week with the first meetings taking place on September 9. Making sure that your student is reminded of these options and uses them will help significantly to alleviate crowding concerns on SMART Lunch Mondays.

Elementary and Middle School Boundaries

Join me in reminding our students that the Leesville Elementary and Middle School campuses are off limits while school is in session. This includes dismissal. This applies particularly to students who walk home and use the other campuses as a short cut.

Carpool Procedures

Students who carpool should be picked up and dropped off at the front of the school using the Pride Way entrance. There should be no carpool traffic using the O’Neal Road entrance to campus.

Upcoming Picture Dates

Senior Portrait Make-ups will be held Thursday, September 5. There is a $15 sitting fee due at the start of the session. The Senior Group Picture will be Tuesday, September 10. Underclassmen will take pictures on Thursday, September 12.

Senior Parent Night

The Class of 2020 Senior Parent Night will be held Tuesday, September 10 at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium.
