7/28 Principal Message
Alston Ridge Alligators:
Welcome to another first day of school! This Monday will mark the first day of school for our students on Track 4, in grades 1-5, as well as the start of our Staggered Entry process for the kindergarteners. We are excited to continue our new beginnings, and we are grateful for the support of our community as we continue to grow as a school.
As we move into our last week of July (and first of August!), a few reminders and updates:
Carpool
If you are planning to use the Carpool line for dismissal pick-up, please help your student to learn their Carpool #. Carpool #/tags can be obtained in the school’s main office. This number identifies your student to the faculty who are assisting them with the dismissal process and enables us to guide them to your vehicle at the end of the day. If you are only using the Carpool line for 1 day, please be sure to clearly state your student’s name and grade to the faculty members who will be in the parking lot assisting with the Carpool line.
Bus Transportation
WCPSS Transportation manages the bus routes for Alston Ridge Elementary School through its Panther Creek Transportation District. The Transportation staff are continuing to work to improve service on the routes and increase consistency for families. At the school level we prioritize safety and consistency, while advocating for the speediest trip to and from school. If you have a concern regarding your child’s bus route, you can contact the Transportation Department at https://www.wcpss.net/Page/43 and by phone at 919-805-3030. Information on bus tracking via the Here Comes The Bus App is at https://www.wcpss.net/herecomesthebus.
If your student is not yet registered for the bus, register at https://www.wcpss.net/Page/39302. You will receive a ticket number when you finish the registration process. If you would like to begin riding immediately, you can e-mail Ms. Oliver, Assistant Principal, at moliver2@wcpss.net with the ticket number and she can confirm your student’s eligibility and make them a temporary bus pass for immediate use.
Community Based After School Enrichment Programs
Community Based Enrichment Programs are beginning registrations. All Enrichment Programs are on-site at Alston Ridge and provide unique after school opportunities for our students to grow their gifts and talents. Currently the KidzArt Program and TGA Golf and Tennis Program are registering for August and fall programs and the Alston Ridge Band fall program has begun. Visit the program websites to learn more about how they work with our students.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of any assistance. Our faculty contact is available through our Faculty Directory and you can reach our Main Office support staff from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with questions.
Thank you for all your support for our faculty, students, and school.
Go Alligators!
