    This week we will continue our Unit on Dimensions of Health with our focus being on Physical Health.  In-person students will be participating in different forms of rhythmic activities including cardio drumming.

    This week we will be exploring the Dimensions of Health with a focus on Mental and Emotional Health.  We will learn various ways to help ourselves handle stressful situations and take care of ourselves.

  • 2/22-2/26: Tolerance

    This week's focus:

    Remote and VA classes unit: Tolerance


    8th grade: CPR- Hands-Only

    6th and 7th grade: Fitness activities and line dance


    I look forward to seeing my Remote students Monday and Friday and my VA students on Tuesday and Thursday.  I am excited to see Cohort 3-C in class Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  We do have an asynchronous day this Wednesday.

  • Week 4: PCH II and Return of Cohort B

    I hope everyone had a terrific weekend!  

    Welcome back to Cohort B students to Durant's campus.  We will meet in E13 at the top of the 7th-grade hall when it is your class time.  We will not be dressing out, so always make sure you are wearing comfortable clothes and shoes.  We will also be reinforcing the 3 W's.  Bring an extra mask, if possible, in case the one you have needs to be replaced for some reason.  It will be great to see you Monday!

    Remote and VA students will be continuing work on Personal and Consumer Health.

  • Strategies to Improve Fitness

    This week our focus will be on completing our at-home fitness pre-assessment.  Once completed, you will create a S.M.A.R.T. Goal of your choosing based on your results.

  • Personal and Consumer Health I

    This week we will be focusing our attention on Communicable and Noncommunicable (Chronic) diseases.  We will begin with a discussion and exploration of COVID and how it continues to impact our lives and what we can do to help protect ourselves and others from potential exposure.

    We will also look at other communicable diseases and ways to prevent the spread and/or exposure.

  • Welcome to Second Semester!

    Welcome back and welcome to Semester Healthful Living!  I look forward to getting to know you all this semester.  I have invited you to join your Google Classroom and you will be able to access all assignments there throughout the semester.

    This week we will spend time getting to know each other, understand what our expectations are for each other, and I will hopefully be able to answer any questions you might have.

    Remote classes will meet on Mondays and Fridays and Virtual classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the following times:

    8th grade: 9:40-10:10

    6th grade:  11:40-12:10

    7th grade:  1:30-2:00


    You will be able to join your Google Meet by going to your Google Classroom and you will see your link on the upper left-hand side of the banner.

  • Happy Winter Break

    I want to take this opportunity to thank all of my students and their families this semester.  We embarked this semester with an updated curriculum and I feel you all did a great job navigating it.  We are still learning how best to reach all students, but I am impressed with the effort put forth.

    I wish you all a safe and happy holiday and winter break.


    Please don't forget to fill out the google forms found in your google classroom to finish the semester.

  • Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs

    This week we will be discussing on the topic of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs(ATOD).  Different grades will focus on specific areas.  Info will be posted in Google Classroom.

    Also, all students will need to complete their post-assessment on fitness.  Items to be tested are the same as the pre-assessment: sit-ups(curl-ups) in 60 seconds, push-ups, and sit-and-reach.  The mile is optional and only appropriate to those that have been running all along as part of their activity.

  • Nutrition
