Mrs. Melissa Thacher

Hi!  I'm Melissa Thacher.  I grew up in Texas and Virginia, but my husband is a Raleigh native.  I graduated from James Madison University and UNC Charlotte.  I have a master's degree in counseling and am a National Board Certified Teacher in School Counseling.  I have been a school counselor since 2003 and have at RES since 2016.

I have two children, Pierce and Carlie, and a dog named Desma. In my free time, I love going to food festivals, boating, and reading.

I think Rolesville is a great place to learn because our focus is always on what is best for children.  Our staff continues to come up with new and engaging ways to reach our students.

I chose to work at Rolesville Elementary because our school is a tight-knit community with a small town feel.   As large as Wake County has gotten, it is comforting to be in a place where people know and care about each other.

Mrs. Thacher is on campus Monday, Wednesday and alternating Fridays.

Hello Rolesville Elementary students and families!  My name is Katy Greer and I am excited to join the RES staff as School Counselor.  I graduated from the University of Delaware and Virginia Commonwealth University.  I have a master’s degree in Counselor Education.  Most recently I have been working as a Preschool Teacher and I have been volunteering with the Counselors and in the classrooms at two WCPSS elementary schools.  Prior to that I raised my children and worked in the fields of Human Resources and Finance.

I live in Wake Forest and outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family including my husband Chad and our kids, Thomas, Elaina and Clara.  Our family has a pet bunny named Snowball.  I love watching my kids participate in their extracurricular activities such as baseball and girl scouts.  I also love the beach and enjoy the outdoors.

I have a passion for recognizing each student’s unique strengths and for helping them be successful at school in the academic, personal/social, and career domains.  I look forward to building relationships with the students and families at Rolesville Elementary!

Mrs. Greer is on campus Tuesday, Thursday and alternating Fridays.
