Mr. Boyce is in his 4th year of teaching and first at Hortons Creek Elementary! Mr. Boyce has experience teaching universal preschool, second grade, third grade, and is extremely excited to begin teaching kindergarten. Mr. Boyce grew up and graduated from SUNY New Paltz in New York. He has moved down North Carolina this summer (2021) and is very excited to be apart and learn more about the Hortons Creek & the greater Wake County communities. Mr. Boyce is an avid baseball fan, loves reading and watching movies, and enjoys the outdoors. He is looking forward to an amazing year in kindergarten!
Ms. Coakley graduated in May 2017 from James Madison University with her Masters in Elementary Education. (GO DUKES!) Ms. Coakley grew up in New Jersey and moved to North Carolina in the summer of 2018. In her free time she likes going on hikes and playing with her dog Stella. This is Ms. Coakley’s fourth year of teaching Kindergarten at HCES. She is excited for a new year at Hortons Creek! #GOHAWKS
Ms. Dickerson is in her ninth year teaching and her fifth year at Hortons Creek. She has experience teaching both preschool and kindergarten. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in Child Development from Meredith College. She received her B-K and K-6 teaching licenses from UNC-Greensboro as well as her Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development in Birth-Kindergarten. She is a National Board Certified Teacher. She also is a level 1 and level 2 Google Certified Educator. Mrs. Dickerson is passionate about children’s play and was able to study it abroad in Italy during her time at Meredith College! Outside of school she enjoys spending time with her husband Jordan and her friends and family, reading, traveling, trying new restaurants, and doing Pure Barre. She is excited to be a part of the kindergarten team!
Ms. Ferguson is so excited to be at Hortons Creek this school year. She is going on her third year as a teacher. She has taught both 2nd and 1st grade and this year she will be teaching kindergarten. She has received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Psychology from Northcentral University. She holds a teaching license in B-K and Elementary Education. She is looking forward to having a fantastic school year. When Mrs. Ferguson is not teaching she loves to spend time with her family. She also loves to write and listen to calming music.
Ms. Griffin is ready and excited for another amazing year of Kindergarten! Ms. Griffin grew up in Charlotte, NC and went to N.C. State University to receive her B.S. in Elementary Education with a STEAM concentration (Go Wolfpack!). Ms. Griffin started her teaching career in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and looks forward to her third year of teaching Kindergarten at HCES! Ms. Griffin is a Google Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2. Ms. Griffin is passionate about culturally responsive teaching where students see themselves in their learning everyday. In Ms. Griffin’s free time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, running, taking dance class, and playing with her dogs Finley and Peyton!
Ms. Hankinson is in her fourth year teaching at Hortons Creek with the Kindergarten team. She is originally from South Carolina and graduated with her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the College of Charleston. After that, she moved to Raleigh to earn her Master's in Teaching- Go Pack! She is passionate about creating a community culture where students know they are welcomed and valued as they learn to take care of themselves and others and develop their strengths as world-changers. Outside of school she loves going to the beach & sea kayaking, reading, and traveling to new places with her partner. She is looking forward to another year of helping students shine bright!
Ms. Ryan just recently moved to Raleigh, NC from Chicago, IL. This will be her second year teaching. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Elmhurst University. She also is certified to teach blended special education up to second grade and can teach English as a second language. Ms. Ryan loves being able to build relationships with not just her students but also their families. She believes that everyone should have an equal opportunity to learn and is actively learning new ways to make that dream a reality. In her spare time, Ms. Ryan loves to read and be in the gym! She is looking forward to getting to know all of her new kinder hawks!
