-
Kindergarten Meet the Teacher will be September 3rd from 11:30am-1:00pm. This is a drop-in event. Carpool tags will be given at this time.
-
The first day of school for Kindergarten is Wednesday, September 4th.
* If you have not turned in your child’s immunization record or North Carolina health assessment, please do so before the first day of school.
WCPSS Devices
All students will have access to Chromebooks during the school day as needed. Devices will not be sent home this school year.
Bus Routes
Families who have registered for the bus should have received bus routing/stop information from Transportation on August 16th. If you have not received bus route/stop information, contact our school. Bus routes are posted online here.
There may be days where your child’s bus is running late or does not have a bus driver. Bus updates will also be posted online each morning and afternoon in the event of bus delays or cancellations.Parents are also strongly encouraged to download and use the “Here Comes the Bus” app to track their child’s bus. You can find information about the app here:
https://www.wcpss.net/Page/35380If you have not registered for the bus, you can do so at the following link: https://www.wcpss.net/busrider
During the first few weeks of school, buses may run a little behind as we engage in extra precautions to ensure all students (especially kindergarten) get on the correct bus safely and orderly. ALL students riding the bus will receive a bus tag on the first day of school that will need to remain on their bookbag for the entire school year. Students will not be allowed to ride the bus if they do not have a bus tag. Please contact the office if your child needs a new bus tag during the school year. Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade students require an adult to receive them at the bus stop in the afternoons. If there is no one at the bus stop, bus drivers will attempt to contact the family, but if they are unable to make arrangements to drop off your child, your child will be brought back to school, and someone will need to come pick them up.Carpool and Walker Dismissal Procedures
Carpool tags will be given during our Meet the Teacher event if needed. Please have your carpool tag visible to our afternoon staff. If you do not have your carpool tag, you will be asked to park and proceed to the front office to be assisted. Please have your photo ID ready.
In the morning, please do not allow your student to unload until staff is outside at cones. Students may not be dropped off before 8:45. Students must exit vehicles from the passenger side only. Please do not get out of your car to assist your child.Walkers:
FPDE was designated a No Walk school due to the heavy traffic on Forest Pines Drive Lane and therefore, all families have access to bus services. To accommodate our families we are offering the option for your child to walk home with their families. If you are picking your child up as a walker, you must get administrator approval and fill out the form linked here. Pick-up for walkers will be done at the back door of the media center and all students will need to be signed out and walked home by their families.
Volunteer Opportunities
For this school year, ALL volunteers must RE-REGISTER. This can now be done from home or at school by visiting this link.
Any visitors or volunteers to our school will complete the visitor sign-in process in our front office.
We are looking for volunteers to help during morning carpool and for Kindergarten lunch for the beginning of the school year. If you are interested, please fill out the links below:
