She looks forward to continuing to support the Vance Community by ensuring all students succeed.

Mr. Anthony Velasquez, Assistant Principal - avelasquez@wcpss.net

Mr. Velasquez has worked in the Wake County Public School system for 3 years and has 8 years of educational experience.

He has lived in North Carolina for the last 10 years. After graduation, he began working as a teacher in Johnston County, spending five years at Selma Elementary, where he served as a 4th grade teacher, 5th grade dual language teacher, an AIG teacher, and an administrative intern. In 2022, Mr. Velasquez graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) with his Master's in School Administration. Last year, he completed his 6th year in education, working as a 5th grade teacher at South Lakes Elementary in Wake County.

This is Mr. Velasquez's second year as an assistant principal. He has a strong commitment to provide the best education for all of the students that he serves. He knows that this is not possible without the dedication and care of our teachers, parents, community members and administrators. Lastly, he believes that it takes a village to supply our students with the education they deserve.

Mr. Velasquez has been married for 2 years and met his wife at Elon University. They recently bought a house in Fuquay-Varina and love the area so far. When Mr. Velasquez is not at school, he enjoys playing baseball, golf or basketball with his friends. He loves to watch college football on Saturdays, especially if his Ohio State Buckeyes are playing.

He is honored to serve the Vance community and he looks forward to a great school year!
