Mrs. Hayley Philie

First Grade Teacher- Track 1

Hayley Philie has taught at Turner Creek for 5 and a half years. She is passionate about inclusive and fun classrooms. Mrs. Philie believes every child deserves a safe and loving classroom to learn in. Her family is full of educators in Indiana and she is proud to continue that work in North Carolina. She has taught 3 and a half years in first grade, one year in second, and is excited to be back in first!
 
Ms. Philie enjoys traveling, theme parks, and game nights with friends outside of school. Her favorite place she has visited is Tanzania. She lives with her husband, dog, and two cats. Mrs. Philie loves to read and her favorite genre is fantasy. She is a big Purdue Boilermaker fan and loves watching college basketball.

First Grade Teacher- Track 1
 
Alex Rose is starting her 11th year of teaching, 8 of those years have been here at Turner Creek Elementary School. Mrs. Rose has taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade. Mrs. Rose believes in a hands-on, positive, and inclusive classroom environment. She also believes that perseverance and hard work will allow children to grow socially, emotionally, and mentally.
 
Mrs. Rose and her husband, Justin Rose will be welcoming their first baby girl this July. They also have two golden retriever pups, Wrangler and Reese. As a family, Mr. and Mrs. Rose love to go on long walks or hikes around Umstead, play pickleball, and spend time with family. Mrs. Rose enjoys the beach, reading a great book, and spa days as a form of relaxation.

Kendall has been an Instructional Assistant for 20 years and has worked in First Grade at Turner Creek for 13. She has one 20-year-old son. She enjoys gardening, reading, movies, musicals, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and her cat.

Mr. Giovanni Woodruff

First Grade Teacher- Track 2

Mr. Woodruff is from Lorain, Ohio, and moved to North Carolina 6 years ago. Mr. Woodruff has a Bachelor of Science degree from Shaw University in Elementary Education. He has a passion for helping all children reach their potential and loves to challenge students to be curious and take chances when learning. In his spare time, he likes to hang out with his chihuahua, play basketball, travel, shop, and spend time with his family and friends.

Ms. Latha Srinivasan has been working as a substitute for 4 years and an Instructional Assistant teacher for 2 years. Ms. Latha Srinivasan is kind and dedicated. She is committed to making a positive impact on the students she works with and looks forward to seeing their growth over the years. Ms. Latha is married and has two lovely children. Ms. Junique Flowers

First Grade Teacher- Track 3

Junique Flowers is a first-grade teacher at Turner Creek Elementary. Ms. Flowers is passionate about empowering her students to achieve success and she truly believes that with the right support and motivation, anything is possible. Ms. Flowers has been teaching first grade at Turner Creek for 3 years now and it's been an amazing experience. Ms. Flowers graduated from Shaw University in 2020 with a degree in Elementary Education and she has been using the skills and knowledge she gained to create a positive and encouraging learning environment for her students. She is all about building strong relationships with not only her students but, also their families because she thinks it takes a village to raise a child. Ms. Flowers enjoys watching her students grow and develop throughout the year. She feels it is one of the most rewarding feelings and she feels so lucky to be a part of their journey. When Mrs. Flowers is not in the classroom, you can find her spending time with her family. Ms. Flowers has two children Emory, 8, and Michael Jr. 3. Ms. Flowers is so excited to connect with her 23-24 school-year families.

Ms. Mary Cunningham

First Grade Instructional Assistant- Track 3

Ms Cunningham has been working with children for many years in child care, preschool, as well as teaching and assistant teaching, (20+ years at TCE). Ms Cunningham is kind, hard working.  She enjoys working with students and enjoys seeing their growth and progress both academically and socially and emotionally.

She is married and has 2 grown children.  In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog, Amos.  She also likes to travel and to go “out and about” around the triangle area.

Ms. Belkys Chang-Blandon

First Grade Teacher- Track 4

Ms. Chang-Blandon is a proud and empathic first-grade teacher at Turner Creek Elementary, where she is entering her sixth year. With over 20 years of experience in education, she has taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, though her true passion lies in working with first graders. Helping young children learn, grow, and build a strong foundation is what fuels her love for teaching.
 
Her teaching philosophy centers on nurturing both academic and social-emotional skills, equipping students with the tools they need to thrive not only in the classroom but also in the real world. From a young age, Ms. Chang-Blandon dreamed of becoming a teacher, and she is grateful every day to be living that dream.
Outside of school, Ms. Chang-Blandon enjoys a joyful life with her husband, Mr. Blandon, and their three wonderful children: Ashley, Belkys, and Christopher. She is also a proud Gigi to her grandson, Lorenzo, and a loving dog mom to Charlotte, her golden doodle.

Ms. Moon Kim

First Grade Instructional Assistant- Track 4

Ms. Moon Joo Kim has been working with children in preschool, day care and teaching in elementary school for 18 years. Ms Kim is hard working, kind to children and respects staff. She enjoys working with students in math and doing crafts with students. Ms . Kim is very positive and likes to smile. 

Ms Kim is married and has four children.She has a brown toy poodle.  In her spare time, she likes to play piano and to sing gospel songs.
