Mrs. Amy Beers

Kindergarten Teacher-Track 1 

Amy Beers is starting her 26th year of teaching. Twenty-one of those years were in her hometown of Buffalo, NY. GO BILLS!! For the last 5 years, she has taught in Wake County and is excited to start her 2nd year at Turner Creek! Mrs. Beers has taught K, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades and has been a math interventionist coach and Literacy interventionist.
 
Kindergarten is Mrs. Beers favorite grade to teach as she loves starting students on their educational journey and building a love of learning and school right away! Mrs. Beers believes that students learn best and thrive in a loving and nurturing environment where students build positive relationships with their teachers and classmates. 
 
Mrs. Beers lives in Chatham County with her husband, Tom, and their bulldogs, Butchy and Alice. They share five grown children. Mrs. Beers enjoys relaxing with Mr. Beers and her puppies, camping, and reading in her free time.

Ms. Maria Sachon

Kindergarten Instructional Assistant- Track 1

Maria Sachon is entering her 14th year as an Instructional Assistant at Turner Creek Elementary School, 13 of them in Kindergarten. She grew up in Somers, NY (till 13) and then moved to Spartanburg, SC.  She graduated from Clemson University as a Ceramic/Materials engineer and worked as a manufacturing engineer in PA, and then as an engineer contractor to the Optical Div. at the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC.  Once having her children Ms. Sachon stayed home but was  active as a volunteer in Wake County schools and her community while her children were growing up.  She has been married to her husband Mike Michel,  a computer engineer from Clemson (where they met)  coming up on 33 years in August. They have two amazing children. Their daughter Gabrielle, also a Clemson engineer (chemical),  is married and thriving in Ohio. Their son Conner is a software developer (ECU) enjoying life near Charlotte with his wife and two kids; Declan is 18 months old, and Kess 3 months old.

Ms. Sachon enjoys  helping her kindergartners learn and loves to see their confidence blossom and grow as they gain mastery over a topic. Aside from loving all the kinder hugs, Ms. Sachon enjoys hanging out with her friends, shopping, crafting, reading on the porch, going to the beach and spending time with her wonderful husband and loving beagle Maisie.

Ms. Amber Bruner

Kindergarten Teacher-Track 2

Amber Bruner has been an early childhood educator for over 25 years.  She has taught preschool, first grade and kindergarten.  Ms. Bruner joined the TCES kindergarten team in 2021. She loves the sense of community and the culture of care that makes TCES a great place to work and learn.

Ms. Bruner recognizes the positive impact of early learning on long-term student success. She works to create a classroom community in which every child feels welcome and valued.  Ms. Bruner prioritizes learning through play and provides fun, engaging activities encouraging curiosity and exploration. 

Ms. Bruner and her husband, David, have lived in Cary for over 30 years.  They raised their three children in Cary and now enjoy sharing their home with their grandson, Desmond, son-in-law, Decarius, and dog, Shadow.  Ms. Bruner enjoys tennis, hiking, 1000-piece puzzles, reading, and travel.

Mrs. Jamesy Brooks

Kindergarten Teacher-Track 3

Ms. Brooks has taught first grade at Turner Creek Elementary for two years and this will be her first year teaching Kindergarten! She has worked in education as a Preschool teacher for 15 years. Ms. Brooks is excited to teach Kindergarten because she gets to witness incredible growth and experience many meaningful “firsts” along the way. Ms. Brooks is committed to providing an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. Above all, she wants everyone to Be Kind. 
 
Ms. Brooks has been married for 18 years and has two beautiful daughters, Erin, 11 and Finnley, 8. She loves spending time with her family camping, hiking, at the beach, and attending sporting events and concerts. She also enjoys reading a good book with her dog, Bear and cat, Cheeto.

Ms. Betsy Driver

Kindergarten Instructional Assistant-Track 3

Ms. Driver has been an instructional assistant at Turner Creek since it opened. The majority of those years were in first grade and this will be her fifth year in Kindergarten.  She loves kindergarten because she enjoys watching their confidence and sense of self grow as they transform over the course of a year. Being a part of the process of helping them learn to read is her favorite part of kindergarten. Ms. Driver has an adult son and daughter who were both born and raised in Wake County and attended Wake County Public Schools. They both reside in Raleigh and she enjoys spending family time with them. In her spare time, she is an avid reader, likes to travel, and enjoys anything ballet-related.

Ms. Kate Briscoe

Kindergarten Teacher-Track 4

Kate Briscoe is a veteran teacher with 23 years of experience. She has also been a Turner Creek Tree Frog for 21 years, making her an original Turner Creek Tree Frog! As a member of a military family, Mrs. Briscoe called several places home and resided in Indiana for a while before graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. During her time at Turner Creek, Mrs. Briscoe obtained her National Board Certification.
 
Mrs. Briscoe loves sparking curiosity and the joy of learning in young minds. She hopes to inspire generations of children with a lifelong curiosity and love of knowledge. Beyond teaching, Mrs. Briscoe enjoys gardening and traveling. She's surrounded by her loving husband, daughter, dog, aquatic frogs, and a leopard gecko at home. Mrs. Briscoe balances her love for teaching with nurturing her hobbies and caring for her family and pets.

Ms. Carolyn Jones

Kindergarten Instructional Assistant- Track 4

Mrs. Jones will be starting her 21st year as a kindergarten instructional assistant for the Wake County Public Schools and has been with Turner Creek Elementary since they opened. She was originally from Buffalo, NY and moved with her family to Apex NC in 1996. Her 3 children attended Wake County Public Schools and now all reside in the area. She has a BS  Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters of Education in Reading. She enjoys being an educator and loves watching her students develop a passion for learning. She has been married to her husband, Steve, for 36 years and now are grandparents to a girl (Aria) and a boy (Jonah). She loves the mountains and relaxing at the beach. She is very excited to continue helping children grow in the 2024-2025 school year.
