After growing up in Illinois, I earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri.

I worked as a writer and visual journalist for newspapers in Missouri, Colorado, and South Carolina before relocating to my husband’s home state of North Carolina to start a family.

I have always had a passion for children and grew up as the child of an elementary school teacher. So, the transition into teaching made sense. I have been a teacher/instructional coach at Lincoln Heights since August 2017, and I love the school community and environmental magnet theme. My husband, Jeffery, and I have four children: Jackson, Lauren, Colin, and Dylan. In addition to teaching, I find joy in writing, photography, graphic design, art, travel, and cooking and eating great food.
