Hey there Unicorns! My name is Brittany Bedford and I would love to share a little bit about myself. This is my 11th year teaching and I have loved every minute of it! I received my undergraduate degree from NC State University… GO PACK! After I began teaching, I went back to school and earned my master’s degree from East Carolina University… GO PIRATES!

I am married to my husband Sam and we live in Wake Forest with our son and playful kitty Alice. My parents live in Emerald Isle which is great, because the beach is one of my places to visit. My younger sister Brannan lives not too far away in Greenville. I absolutely love teaching, but I also love weekends, the beach, reading a good book, and many other things.

Hi! My name is Mr. Collins. I grew up and attended school in Raleigh from Kindergarten all the way through college. I graduated from NC State in 2004 and although I support the Wolfpack, my true love is with the Duke Blue Devils! I’ve always desired to serve children and their families. My first jobs, both part-time and full-time, were at a local YMCA… running youth programs and summer camps.

My time with Wake County Schools began at Lynn Road Elementary in 2010. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have been given the opportunity to work with fourth grade! I met my wife during my time at Lynn Road, and we got married soon after! I decided to transfer to North Ridge to gain new experiences within Wake County… and to give the Mrs. and I some unique opportunities for shared expertise.

I hope my students will be able to walk away from fifth grade, reluctant to leave… yet excited for middle school. Please join me with high expectations for a successful and fun year at North Ridge Elementary School!

Hello! My name is Amy Gotshalk and I am so happy to be teaching fifth grade at North Ridge! I grew up in Canton, Massachusetts and all of my family still lives up there. My husband and I moved to Raleigh in 2001. We love living here!

In 1993 I graduated from Lesley University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Then, in 1996 I graduated from Lesley with a Masters in Education. I got my first teaching position in Hanover, Massachusetts teaching second grade. I taught in Hanover for five years before moving to Raleigh. Once in Raleigh, I got a first grade position at Wakefield Elementary. I stayed there until 2009 and then went to Stough Elementary. There I taught one year in Kindergarten and three years in first grade. When we recently moved to a new house, North Ridge was our base school. My children decided they wanted to transfer there and I followed along! We are so happy to be here!

Speaking of my children, my oldest is Aaron and he is in the eleventh grade, Mollie is in the ninth grade and my youngest, Max, is in sixth grade. They all loved North Ridge and tell me every day how happy they are that we all made the switch to North Ridge. As a family we love to participate and watch sports. We are die hard New England sports fan. Every Sunday we are huddled around the TV watching the Patriots! All three kids play soccer so you may see us on the field on any given Saturday.

I LOVE to read and I try to read as much as I can. My number one goal is to instill the lifelong LOVE of reading to each and every one of my students. Happy reading!

My name is Jeremy Ogburn, and I am excited to be a fifth-grade teacher at North Ridge Elementary. I am a rare native of Raleigh, North Carolina. I am a graduate of Meredith College’s Master of Arts in Teaching program, and I have a B.A. in History from Harding University.

Before teaching at North Ridge, I worked as a museum educator at Mordecai Historic Park. I live in Raleigh with my wife, Kelli, our son Andrew, and our unusual cat, Kermit. I enjoy going to hockey games, canoeing, reading nonfiction, and cooking.

One of my goals as a teacher is to create an environment for my students where learning can happen – an environment that is safe, challenging and productive.
